Samsung Pay is arriving on September 28th, and the company is doing their darnedest to make sure everyone knows it. Samsung has released a new ad for the service, showing how it can be used in more places than other mobile payment systems.
While Apple Pay and Android Pay are NFC-only, Samsung Pay also works with traditional credit card terminals. So at places that do not have NFC yet, such as Target, gas station pumps, and millions of more locations.
So while Samsung Pay does have the advantage of more numbers, it will be interesting to see how many people use it vs other options. Samsung Pay is initially going to be limited to the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+, but Samsung has confirmed they are looking to bring it to older devices. Naturally, your bank also needs to support the service for it to work.
So if you want to use Samsung Pay, you’ll be able to do so soon (as long as you’re not on Verizon). Will you use it on your supported device?
