The #Xiaomi #RedmiNote2 handset went official not too long ago. The smartphone is only available in China for the time being though, which is the company’s primary market. And it seems like the company has managed to put together another hit in the region as the smartphone has reportedly sold 800,000 units within just 12 hours of going on sale.
This is a massive record even for a company like Xiaomi, which is known for its flash sales where phones are sold out within a matter of few minutes. The company has clearly outdone itself this time though with this budget midranger. The top end variant of the handset costs 999 CNY or $156, which is remarkably cheap considering the hardware on offer.
The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5 inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, an octa core Mediatek MT6795 chipset, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 3,060 mAh battery. The company hasn’t mentioned if the handset will be released Stateside anytime soon, but knowing the company’s history, it probably won’t make it outside Asia and other target markets of Xiaomi.
