A new report from the Ookla owned Speedtest suggests that T-Mobile offers the best data speeds in the U.S. It was revealed that the carrier offers 19.62 Mbps down and 9.90 Mbps up on an average in the U.S. while Verizon offers 18.52 and 7.27 Mbps respectively.
This would count as yet another feather in T-Mobile’s kitty as the carrier has already managed to take over the third spot from Sprint not too long ago. Speedtest measures data speeds on an average based on certain locations, so it’s an accurate metric to judge data speeds. Over 5 million speed tests were measured to make sure the data gathered is not biased in one carrier’s favor.
It is said that T-Mobile’s new wideband LTE is the reason for the carrier offering better data speeds compared to the rivals. The carrier offers wideband LTE in 185 markets of the U.S. as of now, with plans to expand networks to more regions over the coming months.
In addition to offering better data speeds, T-Mobile has several user friendly promotions on offer, which makes their services quite attractive to new customers. Users from other carriers are also flocking towards T-Mobile in large numbers. If there’s one thing holding T-Mobile back, it’s the network reach across the U.S., which is somewhat lacking compared to the likes of AT&T and Verizon.
