As expected, Samsung skipped the unveiling of the Gear S2 wearable during today’s Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ announcement and has instead scheduled an event during the IFA event next month to show off the new smartwatch. While doing this, Samsung has also confirmed that the smartwatch will be known as the Gear S2 while previous reports mentioned that it will be called the Gear A.
The company was kind enough to share a few images of the smartwatch as well, giving us a brief idea of what to expect from the smartwatch. At this point, we have little to no idea as to what to expect from the Gear S2, but the naming convention suggests that Samsung will be marketing this as a second generation Gear S, which was Samsung’s little known smartwatch from last year.
What we do know is that it will feature a circular display and pack a unique rotating dial around the bezel, which sounds quite interesting. It is very likely that Samsung will keep this an exclusive to its Galaxy lineup of devices, something which has been criticized by experts. Are you excited for Samsung’s latest wearable?
