S5 Messages Not Sent Error After Software Update

Problem: Ever since I have gotten the most recent software update, my messaging has been all sorts of wacky. My messages are saying that they have not sent, but then as I try to resend it, I’m getting a reply back. This is very frustrating as you could imagine because now everyone texts, including my bosses. So I don’t want them not getting the message, or receiving 10 of them. Also, along with the message failed, I will receive multiple messages from the replier, sometimes hours later. I have already done a factory reset, and it did not help. Thanks in advance

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset then there may be some other factor involved other than your phone software as to why this issue is happening. Try checking if the issue occurs in just one location. If it does then this may be a network related problem. I recommend contacting your carrier regarding this.

If you have another SIM available then try to insert it in your phone and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then you may have an issue with your SIM.

S5 Messages Are Missing

Problem: Hi! The problem I’m having is that when I went to send an sms or text using the standard sms app that comes with the phone I noticed all my messages are missing and I did not delete any messages .is there anyway of retrieving my sms. Please help

Solution: The best thing to do right now is to start your phone in Safe Mode then try sending a text message.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • When ‘Samsung Galaxy S5’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

If your message doesn’t get deleted in this mode then there may be a third party app installed in your phone that is causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the messages still gets deleted then your next course of action is to do a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

S5 Cannot Send Text Message

Problem: I have Page Plus service. I cannot send SMS messages. I can send MMS messages no problem. I can received SMS and MMS messages no problem. I have worked with PagePlus on troubleshooting and nothing has worked. We have tried rebooting, disconnecting from the network and reconnecting, turning off mobile data, putting it on airplane mode excetera. Please help thank you

Solution: The only reason I can think of right now as to why you are not able to send an SMS is because the message center number of your phone may not be setup properly. Try to check on this number on your phone first and make the necessary changes if it differs from what your carrier is using.

  • Press Messages.
  • Press the menu icon.
  • Press Settings.
  • Press Text messages.
  • Press Message center.

S5 No Reply Alert From Text Message

Problem: Since update to lollipop when using default text messages I do not get a reply alert from the individual that I am texting unless I exit out of messages. Where is the problem coming from?

Solution:  Try to check again if there are any new software updates available for your phone as this may be caused by a software bug. If there are available updates then get them as this may resolve the issue.

If your phone is running on the latest software then try wiping the cache partition of your phone and see if the problem disappears.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the problem still persists then I suggest you do a factory reset.

S5 Not Sending MMS

Problem: I bought this phone unlocked it used to be a Verizon wireless phone.  I switched the carrier to cricket wireless.  I’m paying for the best plan crickets got.  When the phone was activated I didn’t have any internet. I called them and they told me to check my APN through account name..  Nothing was set I filled in everything they told me too.  Now I have internet connection but it’s not very good..  All I’ve tried to send picture messages and they try to send but all I get is mms fail..  Also random but someone at the mall told me to get a Turbo SIM card..  I’ve looked everywhere and all I find are those that work with apple iPhone???  Can you please help me…  Thank you

Solution: Try to double check the APN settings again and make sure that it is correct. You should also make sure that have an active mobile data subscription to be able to send and receive an MMS. Turn on your phone’s mobile data switch and make sure the network mode is properly set.

  • Tap the settings icon.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap NETWORK MODE

Try switching between LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) and WCDMA/GSM (AUTO CONNECT) to check which network mode allows you to send an MMS.
