S4 Screen Is Blank

Problem: Hi my phone was working fine until a few days ago when the screen went blank i can turn the phone on and it vibrates when it does and the white light comes on also and sound but the screen is black since this issue i have been able to get the phone screen on at least 3 times but it stays on for about 10secs then goes off again.

Solution: Let’s try to check if this is a power related problem. First, discharge your phone completely and clear out the RAM by taking out the phone battery and pressing the power button for at least one minute. Reinsert the battery then connect your phone to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Try to turn on your phone.

If the issue persist then try swapping your phone battery with a new one. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by a faulty battery. Make sure to charge the battery for at least 20 minutes before turning your phone on.

If the problem is not power related then the next thing to check is if this is caused by a software issue. Connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. If your phone can be detected then I suggest you proceed with backing up your phone data using Kies. One the back-up has completed disconnect your phone from the computer then perform a factory reset using the hardware buttons of your phone.

If your phone can’t be detected by Kies then attempt to enter your phone’s recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue then the problem may already be hardware related. In this case you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Screen Goes Black

Problem: Recently dropped the phone off my car seat to the car floorboard. Not a significant fall but landed just right to leave a small crack in the corner of the amoled screen. Not the gorilla glass, just the internal illuminated screen. Phone still functioned but screen was dead.  Purchased a Samsung screen/digitizer/gorilla glass/frame assembly from phonepartsUSA in Nevada and installed the screen assembly. Every thing functions as it should and the new screen looks great. Been using for about three weeks but if the phone gets warm ( from a long call with phone against your ear or carrying the phone in your pocket with normal body heat), the screen goes black. All buttons and functions of the phone still work. You can even swipe your finger across the black screen to answer a call if it rings but the screen is black. Once you set the phone in the A/C or other environment to cool to normal room temperature, the screen goes back to normal and perfect. Usually has to set about an hour and first comes back very dim or garbled screen but after an hour or so goes back to normal. Is the replacement screen defective or is there another underlying problem that needs to be addressed? PLEASE HELP. THANKS

Solution: You have to check first if the issue is not caused by a faulty proximity sensor. Try turning this sensor off first. Go to your phone dialer – press menu button – tap on call settings – look for “turn off screen during calls” and make sure it is unchecked. Observe your phone and see if the issue still occurs.

If it still occurs you next step is to check if the problem is caused by your phone software. For this you need to back up your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs

If the factory reset fails to resolve the problem then there’s a possibility that display assembly you installed may be defective.

S4 White Box In The Middle Of Screen

Problem: A white box in the middle if my screen, won’t go away tried restarting taking my battery out and everything. It doesn’t move. It’s not a menu.

Solution: Did you happen to notice if this issue occurred right after you installed an app on your phone? There are some apps that when installed in your phone cause some issues to occur. Anyway, check first if this issue is caused by an app by starting your phone in Safe Mode. Once your phone is in Safe Mode check if the white box in the middle of the screen is still present. If it is gone then the problem may be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the problem white box still appears even in Safe Mode then you should back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This eliminates any software related problems that may be causing the issue.

If you are still seeing the white box after the factory reset then this may already be a hardware related problem. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Screen Stays Black After Phone Dropped

Problem: I dropped my phone and when I try to turn it on the blue power light comes on but the screen just stays black.

Solution: Since your phone got dropped then there may be some internal components inside your phone that may have been damaged. For this you will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center for repair.

However, before bringing your phone in you should do some initial checks first. Try to remove the battery of your phone then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. If the problem persists then this is most likely a hardware related problem.

S4 Dark Shadow In Display Growing Larger

Problem: Galaxy s4 started with a small shadow in the right bottom corner of phone. It is now growing larger the nearly the whole number 6 three quarters of the 8 half the star key and half the message key on the dialer screen. The right corner is getting darker and darker and the fading gets lighter as the shadow grows. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Solution: The symptoms you described indicates that the display may be broken. The best way to deal with this is to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. You should however backup your phone data and attempt to do a factory reset prior to bringing your phone for repairs to eliminate any software related issues that may be causing the problem.

S4 Green Lines On Phone

Problem: While on my phone, it was completely fine and my apps and everything was shaking then all I seen was green lines and then blank every time I turn it on I can hear everything like normal but I can’t see anything! My phone is my life basically plz help me.

Solution: What you need to do first is to check if an app you installed is causing this problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps installed in your phone are disabled while only the pre-installed apps will be able to run. If the problem disappears then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by a third party app. You need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you need to back up your phone data and do a factory reset to eliminate the possibility that the phone software is causing the problem.

If the issue persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. You need to bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

S4 Screen Becomes Dark

Problem: Hi, I purchased my galaxy s4 active about 6 months ago. I did purchase it used, but other than a few minor cosmetic issues the phone has been fantastic and still runs great but I have recently had display issues that I have scoured google for but can not find a matching issue to diagnose my problem. I noticed that the color is much darker on my screen even at the brightest setting and every app or Web page I got to leaves behind “burned” or ghost image when I go to the next app or webpage. This all happened a couple days after I took my daughter to the park and my phone did get direct sunlight contact on the screen for a couple minutes. It never gave me an overheating warning, but the screen color became distorted until the phone cooled down. After cool down, the screen returned to normal. A couple days later, no direct sunlight contact, (I was indoors at work) the screen became darker as if overheated like at the park. Tried adjusting every setting on the phone and it would never lighten up. BUT when my phone sets for an extended amt of time, the screen will lighten up almost too bright, but upon using the phone the screen gradually darkens back. If I don’t have the phone on the brightest setting it’s as dark as the power save mode when phone reaches 5% battery life, even at a full charge. The display also has almost a vignette like shadow effect extending from the corners no matter what app or screen I have on. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the LED screen completely? Thank you!

Solution: Without replacing the LED screen what you can do at this time is to back up your phone data and do a factory reset. If the factory reset fails to resolve the problem then this may already be a hardware related problem. You should consider bringing your phone to an authorized service center for repair.
