One of the best reasons to own a smartphone is that it now takes great quality photos that can rival that of a dedicated point and shoot camera. If you happen to have a fast Wi-Fi or mobile data connection ready then the photos you took can be instantly shared with your friends through your favorite social network. The #Samsung #GalaxyS4 is one such phone that takes amazing photos which can be easily shared to anyone.
What if the #S4 camera is not working properly? This is what we will be discussing in this latest installment of our focused troubleshooting series.

S4 Camera Image Has Crack
Problem: I recently dropped my phone on its back, the rear camera appeared to be cracked, I bought a replacement and fitted it myself, on checking the new camera the image is still has the crack. I was able to move the camera a little in its holder and the image moves but the ‘crack’ does not move. Is it the image processor at fault and if you think so, what is the best way to fix. Many thanks.
Solution: Since your phone can take photos and can properly process the photos then it’s unlikely that the problem is with its image processor. Try checking the camera lens if there are any physical defects visible such as cracks. If you spot any then you may need to replace this. If no cracks are visible then you may want to try to get a new camera module.
S4 Camera Takes Photos With Blue Dots And Lines
Problem: For a while i have been noticing blue translucent dots and lines when i take pictures. At first it was just when viewing, but now it’s in the picture. My daughter had the same phone and she has the same things, just in different places in the screen. Is there any fix i can do myself without choosing me an am and a leg for an outdated phone? We love our phones and would like to keep them for a while, with the camera working. Thank you very much!
Solution: Since the issue happens on both devices try to check first if this is caused by environmental factors such as dust. Check the camera lens and see if there are any specs of dust on it. Clean it if necessary using compressed air, a microfiber cloth, or a lens cleaning paper.
If your phone is protected by a case then try removing this. It may be interfering with the way your phone takes photos.
You should also check if this issue is caused by the camera app of your phone by clearing its cache and data. You should also proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone if the issue persists.
If the problem persists then you need to back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This usually resolves any software related issue that may be causing this problem.
S4 Camera Takes Blurred Photos
Problem: Photos appear blurred, unable to use for business photos. This is with the back camera.
Solution: When your photos appear blurred the first thing you should check is your camera lens. Sometimes it may have some oil on it or perhaps some smudges that causes the photos to become blurred. If you have a microfiber cloth available or a lens cleaner then wipe your lens with it.
Once you have made sure that the lens is clear the next step is to clear the cache and data of you camera app. Once cleared try taking a picture and see if the problem still occurs. Make sure to set the camera mode to auto when taking a picture.
You should also start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem disappears in this mode. If the photos do not appear blurred then a certain third party app may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still persists then back up your phone data then do a factory reset. Try taking a picture now. If the end result is still blurry then the problem may already be hardware related. You need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Camera Video Taken Does Not Play
Problem: So basically I recorded a video where I paused the recording and played it again and it was about 3 minutes but when I try to access or watch it doesn’t work and says file has incorrect data. Is there a way to access the video or watch it?
Solution: Try restarting your phone first then check if you can play the file. If you still can’t play the file then wipe the cache partition of your phone then check again if you can play the file. If you still can’t play it then copy the file to your computer and see if you can play it from there. If your computer can’t play the file then it may be corrupt already.
Are you saving the video files that are recorded by your phone camera on the microSD card of your phone? If you are then this may be the reason why you can’t play the video file as the card may have some corrupt sectors. You should get a new microSD card preferably one with a Class 10 rating.
S4 Camera Has Colorful lines On Recorded Video
Problem: recorded a video. After pressing stop and playing it back, all I see are colorful lines. Is there any way to salvage the video?
Solution: You can copy the file to your computer then check if you can play it there. I recommend using VLC media player when playing the file since it can playback most video formats without needing to install any codecs on your computer. If you still see colorful lines then there is no way to salvage the video file.
