Note 4 Not Receiving Text Message From iPhone

Problem: I can’t receive texts from an individuals iphone and she can’t receive texts from me.

Solution: Try checking first your phone setting and see if the certain number from the iPhone user is blocked. If it is then unblock it. Your friend should also check if your number blocked on the iPhone.

Were you by any chance using an iPhone prior to using the Note 4? If you were then the message sent to you may be going to your iMessage account. You need to go to the Apple website and deregister from the iMessage service.

If you friend is sending you a message using an old iMessage thread then even if you have deregistered from the service you still won’t be getting the message on your device. Have your friend delete he message thread on their phone and have them start a new one.

Note 4 Not Getting Text Notifications

Problem: I’m not sure how long this problem has been going on. But my I won’t get any text or WhatsApp notifications when phone is placed down or in my pocket. Only once I pick it up or I wake up my phone all the notifications will start to come in. I am using hangouts for texting.

Solution: What’s happening here is that your phone is not receiving any notification when it the display is in sleep mode. Try to check first if this is caused by a third party app installed in your phone by starting your phone in Safe Mode. Take note that you may not be able to use WhatsApp since all third party apps will be disabled in this mode. You will however still be able to use your text messaging app. Place your phone down and wait for the display to sleep. Have someone send you a text message and see if the issue still persists. If the problem disappears then it is most likely caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the issue still persists even in Safe mode then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

If the factory reset fails to resolve the issue then try checking if there are any new software updates available for your phone. This is probably software related issue that may be resolved by applying the new updates.

Note 4 Unable To Attach Image To Message

Problem: Default ‘Messages’ app suddenly would not attach images or receive  images, this immediately after the 5.1.1 update. Says  ‘Unable to attach’ 2 ‘most knowledgeble’ Sprint techs could not solve the issue so they have ordered a replacement  phone for me. Hopefully you can find a fix so that others won’t have to visit stores (I visited 2) where even their best techs had no solution. Thank you!

Solution: The first thing you need to check is the file size of the image you are trying to attach. If it is too large or above the limits set by Sprint then you may not be able to attach it. The next thing to check is your phone APN settings. This is important since the wrong settings applied to your phone won’t allow you to send and receive an MMS. Finally, you need to enable your mobile data and make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription before you can send or receive a picture message.

Once all of the conditions above have been met and you are still having the same issue then the best thing to do is to back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended procedure anytime issues arise after a major software update.

Note 4 Lag In Sending Text Messages

Problem: When I text it takes up to 15 min to send. If I text 1 word it sends, but if I try 10 or more words in can take up to 10min. And then still won’t send.

Solution: When it takes a long time to send a text message try to check first the network status and see if the signal bar is sufficient. If your phone has good signal coverage then try to restart it. This re-establishes your connection to the network and usually works in this case. You should also try to contact the tech support hotline of your carrier and inquire if there are any network related issues in your particular area.

If the problem still persists proceed with clearing the cache and data of your phone messaging app. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.

Try sending a text message. If the problem remains then check if this issue is caused by a third party app installed in your phone. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are able to run while the apps you downloaded are disabled. Send a message in this mode. If the issue disappears then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the issue still persists even in Safe Mode then you need to back up your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hello Droid guy. I was receiving text alerts on my Note 4 but about 2-3 weeks ago they stopped coming in and I do not know why. I using the messaging app. can you help me?

Solution: Try restarting your phone first then send yourself a text message. When you restart your phone you reset the phone connection to your network which usually resolves this type of issue.

The next troubleshooting step that you should do is to check your account with your carrier. Do you still have an active text messaging service? Is the network coverage in your area fine? These are just some of the questions that you should be asking them.

Troubleshooting the issue further you should clear the cache and data of the messaging app. You should also wipe the cache partition of your phone.

Finally, if all else fails you need to back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Not Downloading Picture Message

Problem: Whenever someone sends me a picture, I get a message saying its downloading but that’s about it. It never downloads and I won’t get the picture.

Solution:  Restart your phone then see if you can download the message. You should also make sure that your mobile data is on and that you have an active mobile data subscription.

If you the message still says that it is downloading then try to check the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it matches the one your carrier is using.
