Note 4 Turns Off When Using Camera
Problem: Sometimes when using the stock camera, my note 4 just powers down. I have to remove the battery to restart the phone. When this happens the image or series of images will corrupt. I have done a factory reset, same happens all again.
Solution: The first suspect in this case is that the battery of your phone may be faulty already. Are you still using the stock battery of your phone or have you replaced it with a third party battery? Anyway, whatever battery you have on your phone right now try to replace it with a new one. Most of the cases such as this which involves other phone models show that the culprit is really the battery.
If after getting a new battery the issue still persists then try taking out the microSD card of your phone first and see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the card may be causing the problem in which case you should replace it. If however the issue still occurs then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as this may already be a hardware related problem.
Note 4 Camera Takes Too Long To Focus
Problem: I got my note4 the end of February. Really like it but using the camera is very frustrating. When I open the camera app. More often than not it takes as much as 30 seconds to bring the subject into focus. Once it gets whatever into focus it works fine. I’ve had it to the Samsung reps at the local best buy and as knowledgeable as they are they have not been able to figure out the challenge. We have cleared the cache for the camera but it has not solved the issue. I’m using the stock photo apps. Not connected to any social networks and only share photos via, text or email. Any help would be most welcome. Thank you
Solution: One of the complaints people have regarding the camera of this device is that it takes some time to focus on a subject. If you are taking a photo of a fast moving object then this would be a problem. Normally the camera of this phone should not have a problem focusing on a subject.
Some people suggest that shaking the phone or lightly tapping its frame will make the camera focus faster however this is just a temporary solution and is a sign that the camera module of your phone is faulty. If this condition applies to your phone then I suggest having your phone checked at an authorized service center.
Try to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below and see if the problem gets resolved.
- Check if the protective film is still attached to your camera lens. If it is then remove it. You should also check if the camera lens has any smudges or oil on it. Clean it if necessary using a microfiber cloth or lens cleaning paper which you can get at any camera specialty shop.
- Does your phone have a case? If it does then try to remove it and see if this resolves the problem.
- Go to your camera settings and go to metering mode. Try changing between spot and matrix then check the pictures for both settings.
- Back up your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the factory reset has completer check if there are any new software updates available for your device and apply them.
Note 4 Camera Failed Error
Problem: Most of the time camera stops working and camera failed message pops up.
Related Problem: Camera Failed. Have tried to Clear Cache etc and works briefly then camera fail
Solution: Sometimes while using the camera of your phone an error message will pop up that says camera failed. This is quite annoying especially if you are about to take an important photo.
To resolve this issue try restarting your phone first. In most case a restart will suffice since it will act as a soft reset to the phone software.
If the problem persists then proceed with clearing the cache and data of the camera app. You should also proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu. Check if the problem still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps below.
Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if he error message still pops up. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however the error message still pops up even in Safe Mode then you will need to back up your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Crashes When Camera Is Used
Problem: Phone crash/restarts every time camera app is used
Solution: If this problem is caused by a form of corrupt temporary data of the app then try clearing the cache and data of the camera app first. It’s also good to follow this up with wiping the cache partition of your phone. Check if the problem still persists.
If you are still having the same problem then start your phone in Safe Mode then use the camera. If your phone does not freeze or restart then the problem may be caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however your phone freezes and restarts when using the camera even in Safe Mode then you should back up your phone data and do a factory reset. Check your phone camera after the factory reset. If the issue still persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking if this is the case.

Solution: If this problem is caused by your phone software then I suggest you start the troubleshooting by doing a backup of your phone data and performing a factory reset.
