M8 Messaging App Randomly Goes To Its Home Screen

Problem: When responding to text messages on a few phones (my sister in particular). The phone jumps where I’m typing to where the list of messages reside as if I had hit the back button. Her phone is an iPhone. Very frustrating, why not all phones?

Solution: This issue may be caused by some form of corrupt data residing in your pone messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of the app and see if the problem gets resolved.

  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear Data.
  • Tap OK.
  • Tap Clear Cache.

You should also check this issue by using a different messaging app (such as Hangouts) and see if it still occurs.

M8 Keeps On Auto Correcting Messages

Problem: Texting in in other language is a nuisance it keeps correcting the word   which is completely out of context and is a waste of my time to go back and correct it. How do I fix it?

Solution: One solution I can think of is to disable the auto correct and spell check of your phone. To do this go to the Settings – Language & Keyboard – HTC Sense Input screen and toggle off. Go to Advanced Settings and click off Spell Correction and then Word Prediction.

M8 Cannot Use Third Party Messaging Apps

Problem: I have no issues when with cellular connection it’s with Wi-Fi that I have mms issues. I can receive the text part of it but not able to send. I do a lot of group texting to my brothers and sisters of eleven siblings. The only way this works is with the stock text messenger that came with the phone (for some reason, it works). I’m not able to use any third party app. I’ve called T-Mobile for assistance, they don’t know. I’ve been on forums with no real help I prefer either Hangout or very similar if possible. Please help.

Solution:  One possible cause to this problem is that your phone may have a security app installed that renders third party messaging apps unusable. Try checking on this first.

You should also try checking the settings of your preferred third party messaging app and see if anything is amiss.

If all else fails I suggest starting your phone with a clean slate by doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before performing this procedure.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.

Once the factory reset has finished install your preferred third party messaging app then check if the issue still occurs.

M8 Lag In Opening & Sending Messages

Problem: When I open a certain contact to text them it takes 10 seconds longer to load the contacts string of messages then it freezes on the keypad when text them and it will say sending for hours and send 2-3 times. It also sometimes doesn’t receive any texts even at full signal. I’ve tried rebooting and restarting, I don’t want to factory reset if there is an easier way. Can you help me? I will greatly appreciate any help for these problem. Thank you.

Solution: This issue may be caused by too much cached data in your messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of the app and see if the issue gets fixed.

If the problem persists then you should wipe the cache partition of your phone next.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.

M8 Paired With Honda Accord SE Text Message Not Showing

Problem: I have successfully paired my HTC One M8 with my new car, 2015 Honda Accord SE. Music and phone both work however even though Honda link shows test is set up correctly, I receive no text through the system. I have spoken to both HondaLink  and to Verizon reps. Both blame the other one. Any help to get working with HondaLink would be appreciated. thanks

Solution: Try pairing both your car and your phone while in Safe Mode. This allows you to check if certain third party apps installed in your phone is causing the issue.

  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.

If you can now receive text messages through the system then a third party app installed in your phone may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

You should also check if there are any new firmware updates available for the Bluetooth system of your car. Do the same for your phone, check if there are any new software updates.

M8 Keypad Not Appearing When Typing Message

Problem: Hi, my wife and I both have the same phones. HTC One M8’s. Just recently, we are both experiencing issues when trying to use the keypad to either reply to a text, Instant Message or write on Facebook. For example, on a standard text message, to “reply”, I tap the bottom of the screen (Add text) and the keypad will appear, but on some (random) occasions the keypad will not appear. No matter how many times I “tap” the box (lightly or harder) it does not work. The only solution is to turn off the phone and then restart. It then works perfectly OK again. Can you help?

Solution: This issue looks like it is caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone and see if this fixes the problem.

If the problem till occurs then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset.
