We finally have confirmation that Motorola’s upcoming Verizon DROID smartphone will indeed be the DROID Turbo 2. The revelation was made by Costco’s inventory page, which also revealed the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon’s shelves.
It will be interesting to see when Motorola will unveil the DROID Turbo 2, considering that it’s almost an year since the DROID Turbo was released. Back in 2013, the company released a trio of DROID handsets, but the company has focused on just the one device since last year and it seems like a similar strategy will be followed in 2015.
The DROID Turbo 2 should be an exclusive to Verizon Wireless, although we expect to see a global and carrier neutral version of the smartphone breaking cover subsequently. But since Motorola has only recently released the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style, we think the company might want to wait a while before releasing more flagships in the U.S.
