Xiaomi Mi 5 release tipped for November again

Xiaomi Mi 5

The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone is supposed to be the company’s latest flagship offering. Reports had pegged the device to be unveiled sometime by the third quarter of the year, but it seems like that won’t be the case if a new report is to be believed. The report claims that the Mi 5 smartphone will not launch until November this year, which means the company will wait a little more than a year to refresh the Mi 4 flagship that was released in September last year.

As for the hardware of the smartphone, it is said that the Mi 5 will sport a 5.3 inch 2K display, 4GB of RAM, 16 or 64GB of internal storage, a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 3,030 mAh battery. What’s interesting here is that the device is also said to be sporting a fingerprint scanner out of the box, which could be in anticipation of Android M.

The report here claims that the smartphone will be running the Snapdragon 820 SoC out of the box, but we’re taking that with a grain of salt as reports have pegged the smartphone to be featuring an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 810 chip instead. It seems like the Xiaomi Mi 5 could set new standards for mobile hardware if this new leak is anything to go by, but since nothing is confirmed yet. We might just have to wait and watch.
