Problem: I have screwed up my Play Store app. It had stopped working giving me a message that my internet was not working…wrong it was working on my laptop. So I wanted to delete it and then add it back to see if it would work. I tried to delete & made matters worse. Now all I get is a blank screen. I want to add the Amazon Echo app but can’t since I don’t have access to the Play store. Please help!!

Solution: I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to delete the Google Play Store if your phone is still running on stock software and is not rooted. What you probably did was to uninstall the updates of the app. To get the app running again you need to wipe the cache partition of your phone first.

  • Turn off the device.

  • Press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once this has been accomplished go to Settings then Apps. Swipe to the All tab and look for the Google Play Store and click it. Click on clear cache then clear data. You may have to enter your Google account after this.

Once you have cleared the cache and data of the app proceed with checking for any app updates by opening the Google Play Store then click on My Apps. If an update to the Google Play Store app is available then get it.

Check if the issue still persists.

If you are still experiencing the same problem then proceed with doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.

S5 Call of Duty Strike Team Crashes

Problem: I downloaded call of duty strike team and every me I start the app it starts for a second and then crashes and says unfortunately strike team has stopped. Please help.

Solution: Most cases that involves app crashing are caused by corrupt cached data in the app itself. If this is the case here then what you need to do is to clear the cache and data of the game.

  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the All screen
  • Tap the desired application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

If the problem persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

S5 Asking To Install Apps

Problem: I have a s5 and many many times a day, I am asked to install apps such as rhapsody, truvia, lyft and the like. I don’t want these apps, I am not always on the internet, and not in the play store. I will be playing on my phone, be it Facebook, internet, or playing a game, or even cruising my file folder and the pop up asks me to install this app. And says i need to select install from unknown sources.. I have selected and deselect ed this option.. tried to ignore it,ake it go away, or install then quickly Uninstall, and it still happens. If I leave my 0hone alone, such as over nite to charge or be I my pocket for a while, the app appears on my home screen, but when clicked, it says it is removed from home screen and disappears. This is really annoying. Any help you can give would be awesome.

Solution: The pop ups you are getting are intrusive ads whose main purpose is to get you to download certain apps. While this may be annoying sometimes it gets dangerous if you are required to download an app from an unknown source since your phone may get infected with malware.

To properly deal with this issue what you need to do is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
