Note 4 Freezes On Games

Problem: Hi Droidguy. I got my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on February, and this problem has recently occurred. When I downloaded this game, it took a while to load. The music was playing, but the screen was black. After a while, it asked me to connect to my server, and then it shuts down. The other game loads for a while and then just stops. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it doesn’t help. My other games are able to connect easily, and they don’t have this problem. Please help!

Solution: Since the issue occurs only with this particular game then it may be an app related issue. Are you getting the game from the Google Play Store? Try to check the reviews left by other people who have downloaded the game and see if anyone has a similar experience. If other people have the same issue then this could be a problem with the app and should be brought to the attention of the game developer.

Another possible cause for this issue is a faulty microSD. If the game downloads a large amount of data sometimes this is stored in the microSD so that it won’t eat up much of the phone’s internal storage. If something is wrong with the microSd then the game may exhibit this behaviour. Try to uninstall the game, replace the microSD then install the game again.

If the issue remains then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • Continue holding the Volume Up key until the Android System Recovery menu displays and then release. This step may take several seconds.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the problem still persists then the game may have a conflict with another app in your phone. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the phone. If the phone will not turn off, remove and re-insert the battery.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up keys.
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device

After the factory reset don’t install any app just yet. Instead, go ahead and download the game first then check if the issue still occurs. if it doesn’t download your apps one at a time. After every download check the game and see if there is any problem with it. If you get to an app where the game exhibits a problem then that app is causing the issue.

Note 4 Freezes And Lags

Problem: I am having a terrible time with my note 4 and Verizon tech support is not helping at all.  My phone started freezing, lagging, and rebooting itself daily for the past 2 weeks. I can’t even go 2 minutes without something happening.  First I tried clearing the cache, and rebooting my phone, I’ve done with various times, then I tried putting my phone in safe mode, which seemed to help? Which I think meant that one of my apps is rogue. I got to the point where I couldn’t take it so I backed up all my important stuff on an SD card, and did a factory reset last night.  I then added the apps back in that I use and didn’t download any unneeded ones.  Again, the legging started again this afternoon followed by the shut downs and constant freezing.  The Verizon lady told me do factory reset my phone again….add an app and wait for 2 days and then add another until it starts freezing again then I know which one….are you kidding me? Is this the 1800’s?! All the apps I have I currently want and they are all very popular largely known apps, pinterest, facebook, messenger, kik, twitter, instagram, etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can barely use it. Thanks guys!!!

Solution: Since you mentioned that the issue does not occur in Safe mode then it is very likely that an app is causing the problem. What you can do is uninstall an app from your phone one at a time. After one app has been uninstalled you should observe our phone if it freezes, lags, or even reboots. If it still does then proceed with uninstalling another app. Once you get to uninstall an app where your phone does exhibit any of the issues it was previously experiencing then that app may be the cause of the problem.

Another thing to consider in this case is if the microSD card is faulty. If your phone tries to access data on the microSD and the card has a problem then it will take  long time for your phone to get the data which usually causes the freezing or lag issue. Try to use a new microSD card on your phone and see if that helps.

Note 4 Lag In Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hey, I’ve had my Note 4 for maybe a few months now. Lately, some text messages haven’t been coming through, and my phone won’t receive pictures all the time. Or it takes forever to load them. I’m using the default messaging app, and I’m not sure how to fix this problem. I would appreciate if you were able to help or point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time!

Solution: When dealing with lag in text messages the first thing that you need to do is to restart your phone. This refreshes your phone connection to the network and usually resolves the issue.

If the problem still persists you should contact your carrier and inquire if there are any network related issues in your area or if you have an account related issue that is causing you to experience delayed text messages. This is an important step to do first since no matter what troubleshooting steps we do on the phone, if the issue is network or account related, the issue will not get resolved.

Once the network and account have been cleared it is time to check on your phone. you mentioned that you are having a hard time in getting picture messages. There are two conditions that need to be met when dealing with picture messages. first, you must have an active data subscription and the mobile data of your phone must be enabled. Second, the APN settings of your phone must match the one your network is using.

To check your phone APN

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘NETWORK CONNECTIONS,’ then tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.

Click on the APN that your carrier is using then compare the settings with that used by your carrier.

Finally if the issue still persists I suggest you clear the cache and data of your messaging app.

  • From any home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Select the General tab
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the All tab.
  • Tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.
  • Tap OK.

You should also consider wiping the cache partition of your phone.

Note 4 Freezes When Accessing Settings

Problem: Hiya .please help me before I launch my note 4 out the window… I press the home screen and up pops the fingerprint scanner,  most of the time it reads my fingerprint then says that it doesn’t match….then the screen freezes up and I simply can’t use the phone. .at all . the only solution is to take the battery out and start again.  Even then I might have to do this 3 or 4  times….when I do get in to my home screen I start using it  as normal then it flips back to the fingerprint screen once more….also it freezes as soon as I get into the settings mode…it won’t let me take off the fingerprint scanner mode then freezes again.it won’t let me do anything in settings at all. I simply cannot turn off the fingerprint scanner. Please help me . many thanks.

Solution: The quickest solution to this problem is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset as I suspect your phone software may already be corrupt.
