A new report has suggested that Samsung’s upcoming Gear A smartwatch will be revealed on the 13th of August with the new Samsung Pay service bundled. The company has teased the arrival of the wireless payment offering for quite some time now and it’s good to know that we have an ETA now.
We’ve heard about Samsung’s plans to release the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ in mid August this year, so this new report isn’t particularly a surprise. We have already learnt a few months ago that the wearable will pack a circular watch face and the company has already distributed the SDK to software developers.
Initial reports had pegged the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ to be revealed by 12th of August with a launch supposedly scheduled for 21 August, but newer reports have suggested that Samsung will wait a day more to release the handset to the markets.
The Gear A should be powered by Samsung’s Tizen platform, which has been used in multiple Gear smartwatches before, including the Gear S from last year.
Even the Android based Galaxy Gear has transitioned into Tizen now, so Samsung is pretty serious about this platform for smartwatches. It is said that the Gear A will pack a Super AMOLED display panel, a dual core 1.2 GHz Exynos 3472 chipset, 4GB of internal storage and more. Head over to the link below for more details on the smartwatch.
We hope to stumble across more details on the wearable in due time.
