With the OnePlus One, the company announced a new policy which meant that even rooted units would get warranty support. And with the 2nd gen model going live earlier yesterday, there was some confusion over whether the company will have the same policy.
And we’re pleased to report that the OnePlus 2 will come with warranty support even if it’s rooted, which is excellent news for future customers of the device, especially for the tinkerers among us. It must be reiterated that OnePlus will not fix your device under warranty if the root or the bootloader unlocking was responsible for the issue in the first place, so proceed with caution before flashing custom ROMs on the device.
The OnePlus 2 will be available for purchase August 11, assuming you have an invite. The smartphone is packing a 5.5 inch 1080p display, an octa core Snapdragon 810 SoC, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, 3/4GB of RAM, 16/64GB of internal storage, Android 5.1 Lollipop with Oxygen OS and a 3,300 mAh battery with 4G LTE connectivity.
