The teases and hints just keep coming. Following a lot of small yet juicy details of its upcoming “flagship killer”, OnePlus is now back with another important feature of the OnePlus 2. Company CEO Pete Lau has put up a short post on Weibo, asking “How to define “full metal”?” Lau doesn’t mention the OnePlus 2 by name, but he has been dropping a lot of hints about the phone on the microblogging site lately, meaning the latest hint could be related to the OnePlus 2 as well.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the OnePlus 2 feature a metallic body; even Samsung has jumped to using fully premium materials on its smartphones with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and a metal build would certainly add to the charm of the device, even if it might ruin its ergonomics. Furthermore, it’s possible only one of the three rumored variants of the phone will be metallic, with a price tag that’s higher than the other variants and isn’t so affordable.
The OnePlus 2 will bring quite a few interesting features, including a USB Type-C port, a reportedly non-heating version of the Snapdragon 810, and a fingerprint sensor that’s faster than Apple’s Touch ID. The handset will be priced higher than $322, and its announcement will happen via virtual reality on July 27th.
