HTC has announced the rollout of Android 5.1 for the One M9 smartphone, starting with AT&T’s model. It must be noted that the Developer Edition model and Sprint’s variant have already received the update, so it was only a matter of time before other carriers joined in.
Verizon and T-Mobile will supposedly start sending out Android 5.1 for the One M9 on July 20 according to HTC’s Mo Versi. The update issued by these carriers will also come bundled with some camera improvements, thermal adjustments to curb the overheating complaints, some battery life enhancements and the usual range of bug fixes.
The unlocked models of the One M9 have received the Android 5.1 update some time ago, so if you own one of those units, the chances are that your phone is already running on Android 5.1. If you own an AT&T model of the One M9 however, the update should start hitting your devices tomorrow. The HTC One M9 has been plagued with issues since it was launched, but it’s good to see that the manufacturer is doing everything possible to ensure that they’re fixed.
