Amazon’s infamous Fire Phone can be bought for as little as $159 unlocked and off contract, thanks to a new price reduction from the retailer. This is easily the cheapest deal on the smartphone we’ve seen so far and well worth it considering what it brings to the table. Even if you’re not hooked to Amazon’s content ecosystem, getting the Fire Phone makes a lot of sense for the price being quoted now.
To make the deal even sweeter, Amazon is offering a year’s worth of the Prime subscription service which gives you access to Amazon’s content and expedited shipping on eligible items. This subscription was bundled with the Fire Phone right from the start and it’s good to see that the retailer hasn’t changed its mind even after the myriad of price discounts. For a regular user, a year’s worth of Amazon Prime will cost $99.
The Fire Phone comes with a 4.7 inch 720p display with a design similar to the LG Nexus 4. The handset also has a range of cameras on the front for face tracking and other cool features, which the company calls Perspective UI. There’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back with optical image stabilization and a 2.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 chipset as well, so the device is pretty decent as far as the hardware is concerned.
