Note 3 Unfortunately, Clock Has Stopped Error

Problem: hey there, I’m using a SM-N9005 Samsung galaxy note 3. I’m from Singapore and I’m using singtel (one of the largest telecommunications in south east asia). I’m here today is because samsung own default clock is not working. it shows this message “Unfortunately, Clock has stopped”. I’ve wipe cache partion, I’ve shut down my phone and restarted it, I’ve cleared app data from the application manager for the samsung default clock app and it still doesn’t work. on the 26 june 2015 in the morning, I’ve received a download update package which says i can upgrade to android 5.0 lollipop from android 4.4.2 kitkat. since day 1 on the 26 jan 2014 I’ve bought my note 3 till awhile ago, all was working well as i didnt check whether is there anything wrong or errors going on. just now when i open up the samsung default clock app n tried to save alarm after editing it n i also tried to create new alarms after deleting all my previous alarms but however just as i click done or save button, it stopped working. please help me as i love samsung default clock app. though now i need to use google clock app as a temporary solution while waiting for a solution to come. thanks

Solution: You did the right thing in wiping  the cache partition and clearing the app data. However, since this has no effect on the issue your next step is to determine if an third party app is causing this to occur. To do this you will have to start your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Once your phone is in Safe mode observe if the error still occurs. If it doesn’t then this may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app is causing the issue and uninstall it.

Finally, if nothing seems to work you will have no choice but to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • ress and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Note 3 Unfortunately, Clock Has Stopped Error

Problem: Hi . I currently updated my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to lollipop version. Everything seems like good to me except for clock application keep on saying ” unfortunately , clock has stopped ” everytime I want to set the alarm. Clear data and cache were done but no change at all. Can you help me solving this problem? Thanks a lot.

Solution: Since you have already cleared the cache and data which didn’t seem to resolve the issue the next step you should do is to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This procedure clears out any temporary system data that may be causing the issue.

If the issue still persists you will have to back up your phone data and do a factory reset next since this issue occured right after you upgraded your phone software to Android Lollipop.

Note 3 Unfortunately, Clock Has Stopped Error

Problem: Hey there, After updating my note 3 to the lollipop and my clock shows error notifications.. now i tried looking in to the forums and they mentioned about the settings and changing the date and time. How ever mine is already auto set to regional time. I’m from singapore. I really appreciate your help in this, is there any other way BESIDES factory resetting?

Solution: If a factory reset is not an option then there are still other troubleshooting steps that you can perform to make this issue go away.

You can start by clearing the cache and data of the clock application.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the General tab.
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the All screen
  • Tap the desired application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

If the problem persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

If both troubleshooting steps fail then you really should consider doing a factory reset.
