Samsung will reportedly launch the Galaxy S7 in the 2nd half of 2015

According to a new report, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 will break cover in the 2nd half of 2015. The report goes on to mention that the smartphone will compete primarily with the new iPhone that is expected to arrive by late 2015.

This raises some interesting questions though. What about the Galaxy Note 5? Will it see launch as scheduled? Only time can tell at the moment, but it’s not unrealistic for the Galaxy Note 5 to co-exist with the Galaxy S7 considering that they serve different market segments.

However, it might be unlike Samsung to launch a Galaxy S flagship merely months after the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge were revealed. That being said, a move like this was always on the cards for Samsung as it will take Apple head-on, rather than launching a flagship six months later.

This could mean that customers who bought the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge recently might be in for disappointment. However, that’s assuming the rumor is true, so there’s no need for alarm or excitement just yet.

  1. If anyone out there holds any sway with Samsung, please, please, please put in a good word for an S7 (or other high-end phone) to go back to the replaceable battery and expandable memory, presumably via microSD card. I physically replace the battery in my 18 month old S4 on avearge 3 or 4 times a day, after the phone powers down because the battery has gone to zero so I’m getting as much out of a battery as possible. I am much more interested in a phone that I can use away from a charging device all day long than in a cool/sleek look. The S4 is plenty sleek, even with a case that gives it some gripability.
