S4 Context Provider Has Stopped Error

Problem: Can you please help? Galaxy s4 turns on, says context provider has stopped then phone restarts. Same error trying safe mode, wiping cache partition didn’t help. What can I do? Thanks

Solution: This issue appears to be caused by a corrupt Context Service app. You should start by clearing the cache and data of this app.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the More tab.
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the All screen:
  • Tap the desired application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

If the issue persists then try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • After the cache wipe is complete, press the Power key to select reboot system now.

S4 SMS App Crashes

Problem: Dear Droid Guy, I am emailing you in regards to issue I am having with my Samsung S4. I have been having issued with my sms crashing being slow and a lot of lag and saw your artifice suggesting a factory reset to eliminate any software issues. I would like to try and do a factory reset however I currently live in New Zealand but my phone was sent over from the U.S and currently when I switch it on it shows the t-mobile logo. It was also rooted when I received it, which I have no idea what that actually does except I’m worried that if I reset the phone it will no longer work in NZ. Can you please advise me what the best course of action would be? Thanks so much in advance.

Solution: Before considering a factory reset you should try to clear the cache and data of your messaging app first. The app may have a lot of cached data that is causing the slow and crashing issue.

If the issue still persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Press the Power key to select. The phone will automatically restart after the cache is wiped.

If the issue still exists after you have done both steps listed above then a factory reset is highly recommended. Since your phone is displaying the T-Mobile logo then your phone has been unlocked. The unlock status is permanent so it won’t be affected by the factory reset. The phone will also remain rooted after the factory reset procedure.

S4 Google Play Store Opens App Page Randomly

Problem: My s4 active opens up the playstore to an app page all on its own when i try to open other apps that are already installed on my phone like g mail, google maps, ect.. does not open playstore on its own unless i try to open a different app first, and the app that comes up on the playstore page is always different but one i have never seen before. Does my phone have a virus, or malware of some sort? Or is this just some kind of glitch? And can i fix it? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Solution: This issue usually occurs if you click on an ad being served by an app. Uninstalling the app that is causing this issue is one of the quickest ways to resolve this issue. You should also consider installing an antivirus software on your phone and do a complete scan.
