It was confirmed yesterday that the OnePlus 2 would be using the Snapdragon 810 SoC, albeit an upgraded variant. But this fact was lost on some people, who believed that OnePlus is taking the wrong call.
The company has now issued a clarification on its blog, telling users that the Snapdragon 810 used here will be completely different from what we’re accustomed to and hence will not impact the performance of the device.
Although the SoC will be using the same octa core CPU, OnePlus mentions that it will be clocked at 1.8 GHz, thus not giving rise to any overheating issues. The company has also mentioned that the price of the smartphone will “certainly be higher than $322“, which is quite vague, but gives us a hint of things to come.
The company is yet again going with the ‘Never Settle’ promo this time around and promises that users will not have to settle for an unfinished product. This is reassuring news for fans of OnePlus as the company wasn’t exactly the most popular when it first arrived on the scene. It will be interesting to see what the benchmark results will tell us when the smartphone is eventually launched.
