Although HTC has already declined reports of being acquired by ASUS, it seems like the market reacted positively to the initial reports. It was noticed earlier today that HTC’s stock prices went up by 10% today in the Taiwan Stock Exchange and it is believed that the reports of ASUS looking to acquire HTC had a part to play in that.
It’s no secret that HTC is having a torrid time at the market and it’s only fair that the shareholders and the market would respond positively towards news of a buyout from a big ticket manufacturer. However with HTC flatly denying these reports now, we expect the company’s stock to return to its normal state over the course of the week.
HTC as we all know failed miserably with the One M9 and has promised its shareholders that it will bounce back with a new device in the second half of the year. While we don’t know anything about this device yet, it’s unlikely to spark any interest among fans in general. Do you think HTC should keep an open mind to something like an acquisition, at least to keep itself relevant in the industry?
