M8 Apps Stopped Error

Problem: Hi, you may be my last post of call before I give up on this phone/android althogether, so not too much pressure there for you. I have 3 issues, they may be linked I really dont know but even calling HTC customer services hasn’t helped, Im sure theyre not as clued up as one would hope. Not to mention they never get back to me when needed. ISSUE 1/ When clicking on links that use google I get error message (google app has stopped, report/ok) sometimes this error message appears for no reason at all. ISSUE 2/ Error message (play store has stopped). I have followed your advice on this by clearing cashe & data, then uninstalled updates, turned off etc but still happening. ISSUE 3/    I am unable to install the ebay app from the play store, the error message (insufficent storage available) appears altho I have enough storage to install it 50 times over. It downloads ok but refuses to actually install. I had to uninstall the ebay app after it kept just stopping & thought re-instaling it would help. Obviously not. If you could help sort this out you would seiously be an absolute star! Kind regars & hopefully you will reply asap.

Solution: In my opinion these three issues may be related and may be caused by a corrupt phone software. The best way to deal with all three problems simultaneously is to back up your phone data then do a factory reset.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.

M8 Mail App Freezes

Problem: Hey there, I’ve had my M8 for probably a little over a year now and aside from one lock screen factory reset incident in my pocket a few months back everything has been great, until now. The mail app on my phone absolutely will not open. When I attempt to open the app, I get a white screen with a black bar across the top (not the notification bar, much thicker), the ‘back,’ ‘home,’ and ‘windows’ buttons are still visible and functional at the bottom, and it just sits there until I get too annoyed and hit the home button. I have tried force stopping it, clearing the cache, restarting the phone, shutting the phone down, etc.  I went into account settings to see what I could find there and my two accounts are still syncing just fine, I’m even still getting notifications, however it will not even let me access the in-app account settings.  Any ideas/suggestions you could provide would be immensely appreciated!

Solution: Try to uninstall the app updates for the mail app you are using and see if this solves the problem. If it doesn’t then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.

If the problem persists then I suggest you back up your phone data then do a factory reset.

M8 Apps Crashing After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hi, I have an HTC One M8 and ever since I updated my software a lot of apps that I used to use flawlessly are crashing before they even open… Even when I have perfect WiFi and its the only app I’m trying to run. I’ve tried this with ifunny, Sims City and a couple other simple games. Any ideas on how to fix it, or will I have to wait until the next software update?

Solution: If this issue occurred right after the Lollipop update then try to check if the affected apps also have any updates available. Update these apps. If no update is available then uninstall the apps that crash and install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

If the problem persists then you will have to back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended procedure whenever you experience issues on your phone after a major software upgrade.
