If you’re a developer and are awaiting the arrival of the HTC RE Vive headset, good news awaits you as the company has officially started shipping out units as of now. The RE Vive is the company’s official entry into the virtual reality space, and will compete with the likes of the Oculus Rift. Samsung also has its own VR headset based on the Oculus Rift, known as the Gear VR.
The units are mostly being shipped out to the Valve team of developers, who are assigned with cooking up some new content for the next big thing in virtual reality. Much like the Oculus Rift or the Gear VR, the HTC RE Vive works on the same premise and involves a slot for a smartphone, which is where all the action takes place.
HTC really needs to speed up the development of the RE Vive if it wants to have a mark on the gaming community as Oculus is expected to drop commercial availability related details of its Rift headset as soon as next week at the E3 gaming convention.
