S2 Reboots Constantly

ProblemYou are a miracle. I have 2 s2s. They’ve been laying in what I call “the drawer of lost dreams” for well over a year now. I am on my dad’s account (at 39 so you know I’m poor). When he upgrades I get the leftovers. The 1st he gave me just stopped turning on, the second also s2, would show the Samsung screen twice then a white line followed by vibrations so long as it had a power source. I recently inherited his Mega but it was stolen within a month so I had to pick up a go phone. Every month I try the galaxies & the first is working again. It turns on and off all the time so I did your cache thing but it still seems to do it. I tried taking off the back of the newer one since it won’t go past the Samsung screen before it quits and vibrates but 1 screw is stuck so I’m afraid to do it to the other that now works but reboots eating all the battery. Should I reset to the factory settings or give opening it a shot? I’d prefer factory if you don’t think it’s the power button (why I tried opening the other). Both are out of warranty.

Solution: You should definitely start with a factory reset. This allows you to check if the issue is software related, and if it is will usually get resolved after performing this procedure. Make sure to back up any important data that you have stored in the phone before proceeding.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold both Volume Up and Volume Down keys at the same time.
  • Press the Power key only until the phone vibrates once, then release only the Power key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume up and Volume Down keys until the Android System Recovery screen appears.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe data / factory reset.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes – Delete all user data.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Power key to reboot.

S2 Software Update Failed

Problem: my samsung galaxy s2 froze so i took the battery out and restarted it, like I usually do. When it started up it read,”Updating, please do not turn off” When it came to the lock screen it said safe mode. When it’s on safe mode I restart it again, because I read that it happens when something went wrong and you should restart it right away. once I restarted it a creepy screen came up with the green android guy in the back ground with his stomach open and a red triangle with a ! mark on it. It said to move up and down with the volume button and select with the power button. At first I selected “Reboot system” After a while it went back to the same creepy screen but also saying update failed. So i clicked reboot updates and directly after that it had the same background but with a code and below the code it said a whole bunch of stuff i didn’t understand but i could figure out that is still said something bout and update. after watching youtube help videos i took everything out of the phone and just left it there in case of a virus showing up. My friend had a samsung galaxy s2 that had little mini sort of heart attacks and her phone was completely unfixable and it also shocked her. Will that happen to mine, is it possible to fix. If not tell me what to do. Please and thank you

Solution: It’s likely that this issue is caused by an interrupted or corrupt update process. The best way to fix this issue is to connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. The Kies software will update your phone properly.

  • Start Samsung Kies, or if you have downloaded Samsung Kies, launch the installer and allow Kies to install on your system. If you are prompted to reboot the system, do so before proceeding.
  • Connect your device to your PC or laptop using the supplied USB cable.
  • Ensure that Kies recognizes your device by looking in the upper section of the left-bar navigation menu. Your device should be listed.
  • Once Kies recognizes the device you will see an update pop-up.
  • Click Update.
  • Read through the Caution pop-up and, if you agree, click to populate the I have read all of the above information checkbox.
  • Read the Allow saving of information statement and select Allow saving or Proceed without saving and then click Start upgrade.
  • Kies will begin downloading firmware upgrade components from Samsung servers. This will take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
  • After a few minutes, Kies will then begin transferring the firmware binary to the device. During the upgrade process, you will see the Android logo on your devices screen.
  • After a few more minutes, the firmware upgrade will be completed.
  • Click OK. You can now disconnect your device from the PC. Once the device has rebooted it will be ready to use.

S2 Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: Good Morning. I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 for last three years. From yesterday I got a problem. My battery was drained and the phone got switched off. I recharged the battery and when tried to switch on the phone the Samsung Galaxy S2 logo Text came on and then the first picture of the start up and then it goes back to the Samsung S2 Logo text and keeps repeating. I can’t open the phone. Can you help me solve it or should I take it to a service center. Thank you

Solution: Try taking out the battery of your phone (and the microSD if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery (leave the microSD out) then turn on your phone.

If your phone still does a boot loop then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Home or Power key to select.
  • Make sure Reboot System Now is highlighted and press the Home (or Power key) to reboot.

If the issue persists then you will have to do a factory reset. Do this only if you have previously made a backup of your phone data.

S2 Battery Takes Long Time To Charge

Problem: hi, my galaxy s2 was fine until a few days ago when my batteries would stop charging in the external battery charger & would take even longer to charge on my phone or it would say high battery voltage & it got even worse when i would try to turn my phone on but it would either flicker at the 4g screen & turn off, or make it to the home screen & then flicker & turn off, or it would make it to the home screen not flicker but freeze then i would have to take out the battery (btw i got this phone off of ebay) can you plz help me

Solution: It looks like your phone battery may already be faulty. You should first try to replace your phone battery with a new one. Make sure to charge the new battery using the wall charger for at least 20 minutes before turning on your phone.

S2 Amazon App Issues

Problem: Hi there, had the S2 rooted a couple of months ago, meant to upgrade but haven’t yet, so it’s still the original January. Last week a little window saying “amazon shopping has stopped. Report /ok” started popping up, and then, less frequently, car mode started coming on and off. At times, between the two, make using the phone impossible or at least more difficult and extremely irritating with repeated interruptions which in some cases means repeating or restarting what I was doing from beginning. 1second or 2 before the Amazon window pops up the key board freezes, don’t know if an important detail, I tried ticking off the voice option which I found on line as possible solution for the car mode popping up with no effect. Is it something you’ve seen before, or can you think of a solution? Just to give you the idea of how  bad, in the time I’ve written this the Amazon thing popped up about a dozen times, the car mode came up “only”  twice. Hope you realise how bad it is, hope you can help, it’d save my life, surely my phone’s. By now 2 more car mode and 4 amazon…. Thanks for your time

Solution: For the Amazon app issue you should first try to clear the cache and data of the Amazon app.

  • From the Setting menu, touch Apps or Application Manager.
  • Verify the All tab is selected.
  • Find and touch the desired application.
  • Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.

If you are still having a problem with the Amazon app then try uninstalling it then reinstall a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

Regarding the Car Mode enabling on its own you should make sure that it is unchecked from settings. Settings>Voice Input and Output>Text-to-speech settings> Uncheck driving mode.

You should also check if you set the car mode to automatically start whenever your phone connects to a Bluetooth device. Try to delete that Bluetooth device from your phone and see if car mode still starts on its own.

S2 Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hello, Can you help please? My S2 started to have a Force Close Loop with what appeared to be all of my apps. I managed to hold the power button down and shut it down. But now it won’t start at all. I have removed the battery several times including taking it out for several hours. I have tried to start it without the battery and plugged into a power cable – nothing. I have tried several different power adaptors – nothing. I can’t get it to start in any way including download or recovery mode?? Hopefully you know a solution?

Solution: Try using a new battery on your phone and see if it turns on. Make sure to connect the wall charger for at least 20 minutes before turning on your phone.

S2 Freezes When Entering Messaging App

Problem: Hello! I sure hope you can help me. I’m. dying not being able to text. I have samsung galaxy S2. It freezes and screen goes black as soon as I enter messaging. I do know my device is low on memory storage. And I cant update apps or download a new app. I hope this is enough info. Thank you in advance!!!

Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of your phone messaging app. This will likely resolve the freezing issue.

  • From the Setting menu, touch Apps or Application Manager.
  • Verify the All tab is selected.
  • Find and touch the Messaging application.
  • Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Regarding the low storage space of your phone you can try wiping the cache partition of your phone to reclaim storage space.

  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Home or Power key to select.
  • Make sure Reboot System Now is highlighted and press the Home (or Power key) to reboot.

S2 Keeps On Freezing

Solution: The best way to deal with this type of issue is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold both Volume Up and Volume Down keys at the same time.
  • Press the Power key only until the phone vibrates once, then release only the Power key.

Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of the Facebook app.

S2 Touch Display Not Working

Problem: Hello, I have a problem with my samsung s2. The display works incredibly, but the touch does not work at all. The screen shows everything but when I touch it there is no response. So I wanted to know what actually the problem might be?

Solution: This might already be a digitizer problem. This piece of component is responsible for the touch functionality of your phone.

Try performing a factory reset first to rule out any software related issues that may be causing this problem. Back up your phone data before proceeding.

If the issue still persists then your phone’s digitizer may already be defective. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
