Problem: Hello. I have joined your site however I don’t use Facebook.
- After Lollipop update I can no longer move apps around on my phone or move them to the trash for that fact. When pressing it will only open and not allow me to move it.
- Screen lock is only 1/2 second to put in pattern, how do I change the length of time to allow me to look at the phone for more than a 1/2 second.
- In the past, if I wanted to forward a text to someone I would hold down that portion of the text and it would allow me to forward it. Now it doesn’t allow anything with text message forwarding or opening? Thank you for all your time. — Thomas
Troubleshooting: Hi Thomas. We appreciate you joining our site. Not having a Facebook account is okay. You can simply visit our site regularly for updates anyway.
Lollipop has brought a lot of major changes including lifting the restriction of not allowing apps to be moved to a secondary storage like an SD card. This makes your experience the opposite, which also makes it interesting. We do know that some apps are designed to be installed in internal storage units only. Try using one of the free file managers in Google Play Store like the ES File Explorer and see if that will allow you to move things around.
The answer for your second concern can be found in the same section where you set-up the screen lock in the first place. Here’s how:
- Tap Apps.
- Go to Settings and tap it.
- Tap Device.
- Tap Lock screen.
- Tap Screen lock.
- Look for the option that says Lock automatically and change what you want from there.
Finally, the process of forwarding of a text message under Lollipop has not changed, as far as we know. If after tapping and holding the message doesn’t show the Message options like Delete, Copy text, Forward, Lock, Share, and View message details, you want to consider clearing the app’s cache.
Samsung Note 3 Wi-Fi issues | Note 3 keeps on getting disconnected when connected to Wi-Fi
Problem: I have been having an issue with my Wi-Fi. I own Galaxy Note 3 and I use my Wi-Fi when I’m at home. For some reason it just disconnects and it takes a minute to connect again. I can’t watch a video or movie on my phone because it just stops and buffers. I have done some things that I’ve read in your forums. It just seems it may be the phone because everyone else in the household doesn’t have this problem. Hopefully you can help. Thank you. — Antonio
Troubleshooting: Hi Antonio. If other wireless devices in your household does not have the problem like the one on your Note 3, the issue may only be isolated to your device. That means either there’s a software issue behind or your phone’s wireless card is malfunctioning. If there’s a software problem, Wi-Fi connection interruptions can happen even if the phone has excellent signal strength. Make sure that your Android operating system is fully updated.
At times, third party applications can also interfere with some features of a device so it’s good if you can boot your phone in Safe Mode. If the Wi-Fi function works fine while the phone is in diagnostic mode, you need to isolate which third party app is causing the problem by removing them one by one beginning with the most recently installed. Make sure that you check the Wi-Fi state after you remove each app.
You also want to turn off your phone’s Auto network switch. There are a few cases as reported by our readers and in some forums showing that this this feature can cause connection stability problems if engaged. Designed to allow the phone to automatically switch to a network type with stronger signal and faster internet access, auto network switch sometimes fail in this regard terribly. This does not only cause connection problems but also drains your phone’s battery faster. Make sure that Auto network switch is disabled under your Wi-Fi settings.
If nothing seems to change after doing all these, performing a factory reset won’t hurt. This is the final solution that we suggest if we suspect that a software problem is happening.
If all steps to address a software issue has been exhausted, you can consider getting a phone replacement. This is your best shot in resolving the problem as the issue should be hardware in nature.
Lockscreen PIN changes to white boxes in Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Problem: Hi DroidGuy. I have a Note 3 and I’ve received the Lollipop update and it’s been installed for about a month now. Only recently though have I experienced a problem with my phone. I use the numerical lockscreen and the numbers and letters on it are replaced by white boxes. I’ve reset my phone and while it does solve the problem at first it’s more like a temporary fix since it happens again after a few days.

Troubleshooting: Hi Randall. We are monitoring this issue as this is not isolated to Note 3s. S5, S4, and Note 4 users have reported this same issue during the past few weeks so we may be looking at a possible glitch on the latest Android patch. We have are yet to receive word from Google and Samsung as to what may be causing this problem. We checked other forums and some of their readers have complained about it too and we know from them that a factory reset and wiping the cache partition are useless.
We will be updating this post once we have a working solution for the problem.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 keeps on disconnecting from the internet after a Lollipop update
Problem: Hello. Note 3, one year old, Rogers Network in Canada, LTE, Lollypop 5.0, 5 GB data plan. I don’t use Wi-Fi much.
I have had my Note 3 for about a year and it has always been fast on the internet with no connection problems. Then I updated to Lollipop 5.0 about 3 weeks ago. Now my phone will not connect to the internet about 80% of the time. It will time out or I get a message saying the web page is not available. Here is the kicker, if I restart my phone it will connect and load the web page right away with no problems. But after awhile the same problem starts up again. It does not seem to matter where I am, indoors or out.
This even happens when the phone is showing LTE and 2 bars. I really wish I hadn’t updated the OS now.

Troubleshooting: Hi Dave. As standard procedure, we usually recommend that users contact their internet service provider first for all issues related to mobile connectivity to ensure that the problem is not on the carrier network’s side. However, if you are 100% certain that this not an issue on the service provider’s side (probably because you have isolated it by using another device linked to the same network or if you don’t know of anyone using your carrier’s network having the same problem), we can give you troubleshooting instructions on what to do next.
Power up the phone in Safe mode. This should be a user’s first solution. While in this mode, the phone is forced to run only trusted, first party apps. If the connectivity issue is being caused by malware or third party app, booting up your Note 3 in Safe Mode should help you isolate the issue because the device will work normally. You must then try to remove third party apps individually starting from the most recently installed. Here are the steps on how to perform Safe Mode on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3:
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power button.
- When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, release the Power button immediately
- After releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume Down key until the device finishes restarting.
- ‘Safe Mode’ will display in the bottom left corner of the screen. Release the Volume Down key when you see ‘Safe Mode.’
Wipe cache partition. Deleting the system cache will not directly affect how the connectivity feature of your phone although it can help ensure that the device runs a clean set of cache after a major update. This is one of the suggested troubleshooting steps by Google and Samsung if users encounter multiple issues after a major update. Here’s how:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
- When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight Wipe Cache Partition.
- Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
- With Reboot System Now highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.
Verify that the SIM card is not loosely connected (optional). We understand that the issue happens after the update but we think that this one is worth checking. If a SIM card is defective or not properly positioned with the metal connectors in the slot, it can cause intermittent connection problems as well. This can happen under certain exceptional circumstances like after the device was dropped or has liquid damage.
Perform a factory reset. If things comes to worse or if no solution has worked so far, wiping your phone completely may be the answer. Keep in mind that a factory reset, also known as master reset, will erase everything including your contacts, photos, videos, etc. Make sure you create a copy of those files before you proceed. Here are the steps on how to perform a factory reset on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up, Home, Power.
- When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight Delete all user data.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, Reboot System Now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.
Call your service provider. As mentioned, there’s no better substitute than getting first hand information from your internet service provider. Because the problem appears intermittent, the real issue may either be software or hardware. Service providers usually support both software and hardware issues. If nothing seems to work, consider asking for a replacement Note 3.
Unable to update AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to Lollipop
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and I was reading online that I should have gotten the 5.0 Lollipop update but I never did and I called AT&T last night and they told me to factory reset and try again but it still doesn’t work. What do you think I should do? And why do you think I haven’t gotten it? — Willow
Troubleshooting: Hi Willow. If AT&T does not make Lollipop availbale for your device over-the-air (OTA), try to update it via Kies. You can download the Kies software from this link. You must install Kies in your computer first before plugging in your Note 3 via a USB cable. If an update is availble, Kies should notify you accordingly.
If Kies cannot also let you download Lollipop, you can try to reflash your phone using Odin. We are yet to create our own tutorial for this process but in the meantime, please use Google how to do it or you can follow instructions on this link from DroidViews.
Remember, re-flashing your phone’s ROM or operating system has inherent risks and it may cause your device to become unstable. Please tread lightly on this one.
Front camera of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 not working
Problem: Hello. I’m using Galaxy Note 3 Neo. I can’t use my camera. I follow your instruction to clear data and cache. This work with front camera. But not front one. When I tried to use the front one it’s written: Camera far and needs to close.
This happen for several months already.
I have downloaded different app camera still fine but not front one.
Can you help on that.

Troubleshooting: Hi Kili. Please do a factory reset and see how it goes (instructions provided above). If that doesn’t do anything, that means that the front camera hardware may be defective and you need to have the phone replaced.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 battery issues after updating to Lollipop
Problem: Hello guys. I have a Samsung Note 3 SM-N9005. After the update to Lollipop 5.0 it doesn’t run on my different types of battery it’s only runs on Samsung battery when I put a different type but still same kind of thing it warning and don’t run. Before the update I did not have this problem.
Problem 2 is the phone runs faster out of battery than before the update. There are more problems after the update i tell you that later in a different email post. Thanks for the service guys. — Tjeerd

Apps (MyEmail, MP3 Player Simple, Steam) not working properly after updating a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to Lollipop
Problem: I recently updated my Galaxy Note 3 to Lollipop and I’ve noticed 2 glaring issues with it.
The 1st I noticed was that the app I use for listening to music (MP3 Player Simple) is completely shut down within about 40 seconds once the screen is timed out or locked. I don’t think it’s a crash because I don’t get any error; it just shuts down. I’ve tested a few different apps out and some will also be shut down in the same way while others will keep playing. Assuming this is an issue with Lollipop is there some way to keep Lollipop from shutting it down?
The second issue I’ve noticed is that when I open the MyEmail app it automatically logs me onto my Steam app. I checked the email app that comes pre-installed on the phone and it doesn’t turn on Steam, nor do any of the other apps I use. I’m not sure why these 2 apps seem to be linked together like this. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to separate them? — Chainsaber89
Troubleshooting: Hi Chainsaber89. Both of your issues may be due to Lollipop itself. We have no idea (as they are third party apps), if they have been optimized to work with the new Android Lollipop version. Issues like these happen all the time after an Android overhaul is released so the root cause is incompatibility. We know that the Steam app is configured to work with Lollipop at this time. It’s best if you can contact the developers of the apps mentioned here and see if you can get support.
In the meantime, you can wipe the system’s cache and may be proceed with a master reset while waiting for their reply.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 randomly dials a number during calls | Samsung Galaxy Note 3 touchscreen becoming unresponsive insensitive
Problem: Good morning. I have two issues with my Galaxy Note 3 which are probably relatively minor but are, nonetheless, extremely irritating. I bought the phone about a year ago.
First of all, when I make a call and put the phone to my ear it continues to dial random numbers at a very rapid speed. the person receiving the call can hear all the rapid dialing and will at times hang up because he or she cannot understand what i am saying.
Secondly, over time the touch screen has become rather quirky. At times the screen is entirely over sensitive and at other times is so insensitive that it is almost impossible to use. It is highly erratic and I never know which to expect. is this a problem with the phone aging? Any advice you can offer would be most appreciated. Thank you. — Sandi
Troubleshooting: Hi Sandy. A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a proximity sensor that should prevent the first issue from happening. One of the main functions of the proximity sensor is to detect your face while you are talking to the phone so it can lock the screen up, preventing the irritating number misdials. If this sensor is not working, that may be the cause of the first issue. Another probable reason for the first problem is a malfunctioning touchscreen, which can also be the reason to your second issue.
The best thing to do here is to bring the phone to a local shop to check the condition of both the proximity sensor and the display.
Problem: Hi DroidGuy. I think my Otterbox Defender case may have caused the issue. But i have stopped using that case due to wear and tear. I noticed in my temporary case (that doesn’t have protection on the power button) that the power button is stuck inward. The actual button function inside the case works (if i hit the exterior switch just right). Do you have any fixes or advice? I’d prefer to save $ and do it myself but I’m not an expert with the inner workings of a phone. Thank you for any advice you can share to help me fix my problem
