The 2014 Moto X and the recently launched 2nd gen Moto E with 4G LTE are now receiving the Android 5.1 update after Motorola started sending out soak test invites not too long ago.
Since both devices run a relatively stock version of Android, they will receive changes identical to the Nexus devices. However, Motorola is also baking in support for a new gesture feature, which essentially lets you turn on the flash on the device by performing a chop gesture as indicated in the GIF below.
We spoke about this feature a couple of months ago, so this has been a standard with Motorola’s Android 5.1 update. It is said that the update will start rolling out from Brazil with other global markets to follow suit subsequently. The devices are already running Android 5.0, so you won’t find that many new changes on board.
