Motorola’s smartphones are usually well supported as far as updates are concerned. But sadly, that’s not been the case with the Verizon Droid Turbo, which is still running on Android 4.4 KitKat, despite launching way back in October. However, the carrier and Motorola gave away some good news to the customers by mentioning that it will directly rollout the Android 5.1 update, leapfrogging over Android 5.0 in the process.
And now, Jose Arturo, who is one of the device test engineers over at Verizon, has mentioned that the Motorola Droid Turbo will start receiving the Android 5.1 update by mid-June. This indicates that the carrier is currently testing the update, with a rollout expected to commence in a few weeks from now.
This means Droid Turbo users who are running the aging Android 4.4 operating system will get a leg up on most new Motorola handsets by running Android 5.1. We’re guessing Motorola will send out Android 5.1.1 to the customers, considering that it’s the latest version available out there.
