The first generation Moto G is now receiving the update to Android 5.0.2, according to the company’s official site. The smartphone was already running Android 5.0, so this update won’t bring along any major changes to the fore.
But Motorola makes it a point to list out all the Material Design related changes as well as other features that are expected from Lollipop. It is likely that the new flashlight gesture feature has also been added on the device. This essentially turns on the flashlight on your smartphone every time you flick the smartphone. However, this feature was said to be bundled with the Android 5.1 update for Motorola devices, so we won’t be surprised if it’s missing.
Motorola’s site also mentions that you cannot go back to an older version of Android after installing this update. The update should arrive on unlocked devices first, so if you own the unlocked variant of the Moto G, chances are that Motorola is already sending out the update. If you don’t see it though, make sure you head over to the Settings menu to check for an update manually.
