The VLC for Android app has been used by millions of users worldwide for their media and even audio playback needs. The developers have now issued an update which introduces a big feature to the app – background video playback. This is exactly like it sounds and enables you to play audio from the video files even when you’re out of the app. The update also adds the ability to control audio delay.
Here’s the entire changelog as listed by the developer:
- VLC now supports the background playback for video. Audio Delay control is also activated.
- There is a new look in the audio player, in the side bar, a new Album View, an improved search behavior, more Lollipop effects, a simplified the video player controller and a new file browser.
- On the backend, we fixed hardware acceleration for TS files, we support audio scrobblers, fixed SD cards browsing, added better logging and updated codecs
While the background playback feature is pretty cool, it’s good to see that the developers have also made improvements to other aspects of the media player. Hit the Play Store link below if you haven’t downloaded the app yet.
