Sony has just announced the Xperia Z4 smartphone in Japan earlier today. The handset was expected to be unveiled anytime, but Sony took us all by surprise by showing off the device without a prior announcement. The company’s new flagship might remain limited to Japan for a while by the looks of things, although Sony wouldn’t want to keep it that way for long.
The internal hardware is a little unflattering as Sony has gone with a basic 5.2 inch 1080p display panel in a time when 2K resolution displays are the norm. Other specs of the smartphone include 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, an octa core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC, a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, a wide angle 5-megapixel front camera, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 2,930 mAh battery.
The smartphone is IP68 certified as well, which will protect the device against the elements. Sony has made some changes to the design of the device though as they’ve used resin in the corners along with a two layer coating to keep the shine of the device intact. The smartphone will be available in copper, white, black and aqua green color variants.
