NVIDIA has mentioned that its Shield Tablet and Shield Portable devices will soon start receiving the Android 5.1 update. Both devices are currently running Android 5.0 Lollipop, so it was only a matter of time for them to hop on board the Android 5.1 train.
NVIDIA mentions the list of changes in its post (mentioned below), so have a gander to learn what’s new with Android 5.1 for the Shield Tablet as well as the Shield Portable from 2013.
“As part of the SHIELD tablet experience post-OTA 2.0, we heard your feedback about performance and responsiveness issues related to the Android OS.
We have identified and fixed many of these issues in an upcoming OTA release, which will also upgrade the OS to Android 5.1. In addition to new features and improved security, Android 5.1 provides an overall snappier end user experience.
Stay tuned to hear more about this in the coming weeks.”
Updates have been rolled out right on time by NVIDIA, so it has set itself very high standards as far as timing is concerned. A large majority of (non-Nexus) flagships that we see around us are still running Android 5.0, so sending out Android 5.1 will be a big milestone for the company.
