The Facebook Messenger app for Android and iOS have just received a new video calling feature, making the app more versatile than ever. The social media giant can now stand toe to toe with the likes of Google Hangouts, Skype and several other video calling solutions out there.
The feature works just as advertised and will let you interact with your Facebook contacts over video. Facebook is launching this feature today in 18 countries to start with.
Here are the countries where the video calling feature on Messenger is being rolled out currently – Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the U.S. and Uruguay. Strangely, key Asian markets are missing from the list, but knowing Facebook’s wide reach across the globe, we expect the feature to become more widespread over the coming weeks.
All you have to do to start off a video call is to press the button on top of the conversation window and you’re good to go. Are you seeing this feature on Facebook Messenger yet? How are you liking it so far?
