Note 3 Auto Rotate Not Working

Problem: Hey, I was searching the web to find answers to the problem of auto rotate associated with my Note 3 and stumbled upon your website. The issue is that I recently broke the screen on my note 3 and had it fixed from a mobile repair shop. A week after the repairs I realized that the auto rotate function does not work. I tried rebooting the phone which makes the function work for 10 minutes and then the problem resurfaces. I would appreciate your help in this matter. Regards.

Solution: Is your phone still unrooted and running on stock firmware?  Most of the auto-rotate issues concerning this device usually occur if the phone has been rooted or is running on a custom ROM.

If your phone is still running on stock firmware and is unrooted try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Turn off Auto-Rotation under your phone settings by going to Settings – Display – Auto Rotation (unchecked).
  • Turn off the device and remove the SIM card and battery. Wait for few seconds before you reinsert them.
  • Switch the phone back on and check Auto-Rotation again.

If the issue still persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Note 3 SIM Card Error After Lollipop Update

Problem: I am getting SIM card error.. I tried inserting other SIM .. still says insert a SIM card.. I have recently updated lollipop in my Samsung galaxy note 3

Solution: Take out the SIM card and carefully inspect it and the SIM card holder of your phone. If you spot any visible damages on your SIM card then replace it with a new one. If the SIM card holder of your phone has any dirt or lint then clean it using a toothbrush.

Try inserting a different SIM card on your phone and see if the same problem occurs. If it doesn’t then your SIM may be damaged, have it replaced.

If the same problem occurs even with the new SIM inserted then your last option is to perform a factory reset. Just be sure to back up your data before proceeding.

Note 3 Lagging Issue

Problem: My note 3 is not accurately or it is delaying the response on the touch screen. same thing happens with the home button and the power button to turn off the screen. I can type out an entire word before it starts typing on the screen and then there’s a lot of mistakes as well or it thinks I did a long tap. I’ve cleared the cache, did a factory reset twice and restarted in safe mode everything is up to date and still the problem. even in safe mode still lagging the very first thing I have to type after a factory reset still lagging. Sometimes I could have talked this whole message without a problem but this time I had to you voice it to get it done switches back and forth all day long but the problem is happening more and more frequently now most of the time. I’m thinking this is a hardware issue. I’m about to go to sprint but what I’ve read they will do the same thing I’ve already done I’m waiting on an android update hoping the new lollipop could fix this. thanks for your help.

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset but still your phone is experiencing this lagging issue then this may already be hardware related. Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then ty taking it out and see if the lagging issue still occurs. There are cases where a faulty SD card can make a phone lag which is what we are trying to eliminate.

If the issue persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center for further checking.

Note 3 Screen Turns On Randomly

Problem: Hi! I’m hoping you can help me with my Samsung galaxy note 3. For the past couple weeks, the screen keeps turning on for no reason and it stays on until I push the button to make it blank. I’m not sure what’s causing it or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Solution: Have you installed any new app on your phone prior to this issue occurring? If so, then it must be caused by this app trying to activate your phone display for one reason or another. Try uninstalling this new app and see if the problem still persist.

To check if any other third party app is causing this issue then you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode, only the default apps are loaded while any third party app installed are disabled.

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  • When the Samsung logo displays press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  • When the Lock screen is displayed Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the phone screen does not activate on its own in this mode then it is most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.

If the issue still persists then a factory reset is recommended.

Note 3 Error 24 When Installing Facebook

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 keeps displaying an error code -24 while trying to install the Facebook App. I’ve done a soft reset, Uninstaller most apps and pictures, but nothing helps. Please help!

Solution: The reason why error 24 occurs when you try to download Facebook is that a package name of the same app already exists in your phone. To resolve this error you have to delete this.

  • Using a root file manager, go to /data/data
  • Find the package name of the app you’re wanting to install (in this case it is Facebook)
  • Delete that folder. All of it.
  • Try to install your app again, it should work now

If the issue persists then you will have to do a factory reset to delete all traces of the app.

Note 3 Video Streaming No Picture

Problem: Hi. I got your email address from your website droidguy and I think you are doing a wonderful job. However I have a little problem hope you can help me to deal with it. I have a note 3 samsung N900 and I am having an issue with live streaming using local tv apps. When I am connected to the wifi the stream works very well but when I am on 3g I get the sound but not video picture. Also I have filmon app that works very well using 3g connection. I tried my wife’s phone with the same connection and I found no problem in streaming and she uses LG G3. Thank you in advance.

Solution: The issue may be app related. Try clearing the cache and data of the local TV app that you are using then check its live streaming performance again.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.

If the issue persists uninstall the app then install it again.

Note 3 Wi-Fi Turn On Automatically

Problem: Hi droid guy. I keep up with your blog thru Drippler app. I have never had any problems with my Note 3 until now. I’m running 4.4.4 and the other day my camera was acting up not taking the pictures correctly. The camera would take the pictures in portrait and them when I went to galery they would be landscape. I cleared the cache and it still did not work. The only thing I could find to do was a factory reset. So I did. Now the camera is working for now but my wifi keeps connecting by itself. I have factory reset several times and this will not stop. It’s killing my battery. I do not use wifi a lot because I have unlimited data. My Note just feels off. The wifi coming on all on its on, it freezes up, resets itself. I can usually figure this stuff out thru your blog and Google. I can not seem to get this fixed.  Please help!!

Solution: If you are using the Sprint network then try turning off the connection optimizer feature. Just go to settings> connections> more networks>  mobile networks> connections optimizer then uncheck the box.

If you are using the T-Mobile network then go to your T-Mobile My Account app. Go to Options. At Connection Assistant, click Open Wi-Fi Manager and uncheck Manage Wi-Fi Connections.

Note 3 Can’t Access SD Card

Problem: Hi, my sd card yesterday got a problem. so ,it happens like that: i left my phone on the table. then when i want to use it, i couldnt on it. it was a total black then i left it on the table again then when i finally am able to on my phone,it said , “sd card is blank or has unsupported filesystem…and most of my photos are saved in the sd card….and its lost…can u please tell me how to retrieve it  back? besides what does “format your sd card” means? thanks in advance.

Solution: The SD card may already be corrupted. To check if this is the case try removing it and have your computer read it. If your computer can’t read the SD card then it’s going to be hard to retrieve any data stored in it. If the photos are important to you then you may opt to try using a professional data retrieval service company however this will cost a lot.

If you have a backup copy of the data stored in your SD card then you can proceed with the format process. Formatting the SD card simply means preparing it so that new information can be written on it. This process will delete any data stored in the card.

If the format process fails to fix the SD card then you should get a new one.

Note 3 Lags After Lollipop Update

Problem: I got an update to lollipop yesterday.. But since then i am facing a bit of lag in every game and in basic apps like gallery and dialer.. When i was on kitkat everything worked perfect.. Please hlep me out.. I am using SM-N900.

  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

Note 3 AT&T Lollipop Update Effects

Problem: I have the galaxy note 3…sm-n900a…was wondering if the new operating system lollipop would mess up my phone…i have att…so it’s not out with them yet.. just curious how it will affect my phone if I was to install it.. thanks

Solution: Generally, the update should provide new features and improvements to your phone. I suggest getting it on your phone as soon as AT&T releases it. There are however instances where issues occur after the update. If you experience any issues then you should perform a factory reset after backing up your phone data.

Note 3 S Finder Has Stopped Working

Problem: Hello an thank u so so much for helping people with problems with their phones. What you do is a great service and I appreciate it so much. My problem is with my ATT Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It all of a sudden a couple weeks ago suddenly started popping up an error message that says Unfortunately, S Finder has stopped. And every time I hit OK it just keeps keeps popping right back up and every time I try real fast to hit anything else on the screen in between hitting OK for the second I got it just keeps keeps popping back up over an over an over again. This phone was working amazing until a couple months ago I had to do something to my phone I’m not sure what att did to it but my phone was all of a sudden saying I had to enter a pass code to even get into my phone BC the Sim card was permanently locked BC I went into some kind of settings trying I thought doing something else BC I know NOTHING ABOUT THESE SMARTPHONES AT ALL this is my very first touchscreen phone and I permanently locked the Sim card an it was asking me for a Sim unlock code so att just gave me the code an now EVERY single time my phone automatically gets shut off like if the battery runs out before I catch it or I just turn it off to reset it, I HAVE TO ALWAYS PUT IN THAT SAME CODE EVERY SINGLE TIME TO UNLOCK THE SIM CARD, so I have NO idea if that has anything to do with it BC it NEVER STARTED HAPPENING TILL JUST A COUPLE WEEKS AGO( the s finder has stopped working message) but just thought I would bring that up too just in case maybe u have  a solution to that problem as well or if u think the 2 by chance are related AT ALL????? Please please please try an help me I absolutely love my phone an need it extremely bad BC I do not have the money at all to get another one an its the only way I have to check on my 3 teenage daughters that need to b checked on of course all the time at this age and also I have severe anxiety so I AM CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT THEM AN CHECKING ON THEM ALL THE TIME. I am also mentally an physically disabled so I can’t get out of the house much at all so all I have for an outlet is my phone so I cannot lose my phone and ALL MY PICS AN CONTACTS CZ I HAVE SO SO SO MANY OF MY KIDS AN GRAND BABIES that I do not know how to back them up to anything at all and their is so many of them I’m not sure if anything would back them up BC there is so many BC their probably wouldn’t b enough storage anywhere I guess to back them up I’m not sure. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEE DESPERATELY IN NEED OF HELP VERY VERY BADLY. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH I APPRECIATE IT SO SO MUCH.

Solution: S Finder is used to search for a wide variety of data on your phone. If you are getting an error message that says it has stooped then there is a big possibility that this may just be an issue with the S Finder app. It is unlikely that the SIM card unlock code and the  S Finder issue are connected.

What you need to do is to clear the cache and data of this app.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.

In most cases the problem should disappear by now.

Note 3 Gets Pop Ups During Calls

Problem: When I call I get pop ups and it stop me from pushing numbers on the phone for voice mail. Very irritating. Trying to call bank can’t push numbers in time.

Solution: This problem may be caused by certain third party apps installed in your phone. You should start your mode in Safe mode to verify if this is the case.

Try making a call. If the pop ups don’t appear then the problem is most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.

Note 3 Freezes From Google+

Problem: My Note 3 will freeze up at at random times when the phone is idle. It will just show the top notification bar and the Google + bar under that, but everything else is black. I can turn the screen off and on with the power button, but it won’t let me power down or restart the phone by holding it. I have figured out that if you turn the screen off and on a few times and rotate the phone, it will free up eventually to do a hold down of the menu button to bring up the Close All option. The phone will work fine after that. Only the Google + app causes the problem. I have done a clear cache from safe mode and it didn’t help. Also have uninstalled and reinstalled Google + to no avail.

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone to clear out any temporary data that ay be causing this problem.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

If the issue persists then perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data first.
