Note 3 Charging Icon Keeps Appearing

Problem: Hi, After installing de latest android update via my phone my phone keeps seeing a charger and then drops it again. This happens once every 20 seconds and causes the screen to light up and the phone to vibrate? Before the update i had no problems with the charger whatsoever.

Solution: You should first check if there is dirt or lint present in the charging port of your phone. Any presence of these may cause your phone to keep seeing a charger. If you spot any then turn off your phone, take out the battery, and clean with a toothpick or toothbrush.

If the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. This is highly recommended since the issue only occurred right after you updated your phone software.

There may be data from the previous software that is still in your phone which is causing a conflict with the new software.  Factory reset will help eliminate this old data.

Before proceeding make sure to back up your personal data.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Note 3 S Pen Not Working

Problem: Hey Droidguy, I have bought a new galaxy note 3 and I love it. But since i got it I am facing an issue in S Note. Whenever I make a note and try to draw something I couldn’t coz S Pen do not draw anything while touch on the surface of screen. Instead when I press the pen button and draw keeping the pen in air it draws sometimes and sometimes not. When touched on the screen s pen shows the pen symbol but do not draw anything. This is really annoying me coz I have to go to a long way to complete my work. I disabled the air view function but nothing happened. Please help.

Solution: If turning the air command feature off and on does not work then try rebooting your phone. Once your phone has started try to use the S Pen. If the issue persists try to check on the S Pen settings of your phone and see if they are correct. You can check this by tapping the Menu key > Settings > Controls > S Pen.

If the settings look fine then perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding.

If the S Pen still does not work then try replacing it with another one.

If the new S Pen still does not work then the problem may be with the phone itself. Have this checked at an authorized service center.

Note 3 Notification Bar Does Not Pull Down

Problem: Hi there, I’m having problems with my note 3 which I have had for just over 1 year.   I was stuck in kids mode as didn’t know my pin number or password so I had to Google the best way to get out of it and was advised to use safe mode and disable the app which I did and that solved the problem but now my notification bar won’t pull down. It doesn’t matter what I do it won’t work. Please help! Thank you.

Solution: Try restarting your phone and see if the notification bar will now pull down. In most cases this will solve the issue.

If the issue persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.

Note 3 Can’t Hear Calls Using Bluetooth

Problem: Hi, I really appreciate your site and what u are doing to improve technology in your own way. Please I use a Samsung galaxy note 3 neo but I have problems with my bluetooth headset. I can play music via the bluetooth handsfree but I can’t hear my call conversations. When it has to do with calls I still need to use the phone’s earpiece. Please I would appreciate a solution to this problem. Thank you.

Solution: Have you tried using another Bluetooth headset and see if the issue still occurs? If it does then you may want to try to disable the Ok Google feature of your phone as well as the S Voice feature. Most people who have experienced this very same issue say that disabling both features allow calls to work with their Bluetooth headset.

Note 3 No Spam Settings

Problem: I own an unlocked galaxy note 3 n900v that I am currently running on the straight talk network. I did buy this phone refurbished and it was inspected and passed all the tests. Everything runs pretty great. I only have two problems one is minor and I already presumed that it’s something I need to contact straight talk about. (My data speed) but I have an internal problem. I was looking up how to block text messages. (I already blocked a number from calling, but they can still text me.) I found that if I go to spam settings I can block a number from messaging that way.. Messaging> settings> more. The problem is that I don’t have spam settings.  Please let me know if you know what is wrong. My only assumption is that because this was previously a Verizon phone that they may have blocked this off or something. Because they did that with the apn settings. (I can’t change them). Thanks in advance.

Solution: Your phone may be running on the latest Verizon software where the spam setting has been omitted.

If you would like to have this feature then you should consider using a third party messaging app that has spam control.

Another option is to wait for the Android Lollipop update for your phone and check if the spam setting for the default messaging app is back.

One other option which I don’t really recommend is flashing an older software version that has the pam setting to your phone. For this to work you will need a copy of the older software version as well as a software called Odin running in your computer. Instructions on how to do this are available at the popular Android forums online.

Note 3 Sensors Not Working

Problem: Hey i am using samsung note 3 my handset was working fine as last week my proximity sensor and other sensor stopped working. I have checked by dialing *#0*# and all sensor are dead. i haven’t updated my phone . please kindly tell me what is this problem thanks .

Solution: If this is a software related issue then a factory reset will help resolve this. Back u your data first before proceeding with the steps listed below.

If the problem persists then this may already be hardware related. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Solution: You should try clearing the cache and data of your phone voice recorder app and see if this resolves the issue.

  • Tap Settings.
  • From the General tab, tap Application manager.
  • Swipe left to the All tab.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 Popping Noise

Problem: Hi I am having a problem with my note 3 that I don’t know how to fix. When watching a video or listening to any type of audio, my note 3 will occasionally make a “popping” noise and the sound will cut out and video will freeze. The sound resembles a sort of electrical spark sound or snapping a stick. When there are headphones plugged in, it goes through the headphones and emits a small static shock. If head phones are not plugged in, the snapping sound comes through the speakers. I have looked to see if there is a fix, and have not come up with any results. If you could look into this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Solution: If a small static shock is emitted then this may already be a hardware related issue. No phone should emit a static shock unless some hardware component inside it has failed. You should consider bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 3 Text Messages Are Split

Problem: My text recipients are telling me that my texts are coming into them as two separate messages even though it may be just one line…any idea what I need to do? I went into settings and unchecked the box that says “auto combination” but my recipients are still receiving two texts rather than one. Thanks for your help.

Solution: Are you sending the text message to a person on a Sprint or CDMA network? If so then then long messages will be split up when they receive it since the CDMA technology can only handle 160 characters per message. This means that if you have a message that is over 160 characters long it will be split.

If your recipients are on the CDMA network but are already using LTE then the messages will not be split.

Note 3 Freezes When Texting

Problem: Hi! I’m so frustrated, my phone freezes up almost every text and the keyboard won’t disappear after I’m out of texting and it takes up half the screen! While I’m texting, each letter will freeze, I use Swype. also my phone doesn’t ring regularly, sometimes out does, sometimes it doesn’t!  I just paid 400 for this phone in September and now it’s acting up and is a huge source of frustration! Please help!!!

Solution: If this freezing issue occurs only when trying to us the messaging app then you should try clearing the cache and data of this app.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • From the General tab, tap Application manager.
  • Swipe left to the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the Messages application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.
  • The application cache and data is now cleared.

If the freezing problem still occurs then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

One last troubleshooting step you can perform if the problem does persists is to do a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.

Note 3 Text Message Issue

Problem: Hi TheDroidGuy, I have a serious problem with receiving text messages on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo Smartphone.

1) So many times people tell me they sent me an sms but I would check and not see a trace it.

2) When text messages come, I do not get notified.

3) The biggest of the problems however is that some of the messages when they come only show the sender name or number and a “(No subject)” message below the sender name. If I click on it to read it, I won’t see the content. I have important messages now that I can’t read plus those that didn’t even get to my phone.

Have you come across this issue in the past? How can I resolve it because it is embarrassing to keep calling people back to ask them what their message content was. Thank you.

Solution: In most cases that deal with text messages not arriving a simple reboot of the phone usually solves the problem. By turning your phone off then on after a few seconds you re-establish its connection to the network.

If the text message issues still occur then try using another SIM on your phone and see if the issue still persists. If not then have your SIM replaced.

As a last resort, you should consider performing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.

Note 3 Error 24 When Downloading Facebook

Problem: I am having problems downloading my Facebook app to my samsung galaxy note 3. The error I am getting is -24. How can I fix this?

Solution: The error 24 means that data from the previous version of Facebook which should have been removed is still in your phone and the Google Play Store can’t proceed with installing the new version which is why an error 24 is displayed.

Follow the steps listed below to resolve this issue.

  • Using a file manager, go to /Android /data
  • Find the package name of the app you want to install, in this case it is Facebook
  • Delete that folder. All of it.
  • Try to install your app again, it should work now

Note 3 Types On Its Own

Problem: Samsung note 3 has been having a terrible texting issue that I can’t find anywhere online. Basically whenever I tried to text somebody the messenger app types words and letters that I’m not actually typing. Even if the phone is just sitting still it just types random letters.  Even games like fruit ninja almost play themselves at the bottom of the screen toward the home button.  It’s like someone is dragging their finger over the screen and I can’t get it to stop. I’ve done both a soft and hard reset I have cleared it out I have tried looking through the settings to see if there’s something there but nothing that I’ve seen online or on my phone can solve the problem.  Hopefully you can help.

Solution: In this case a factory reset is highly recommended. This will resolve the issue if it is software related. Just make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding as this will be deleted in the process.

If the issue persists then your phone may have a defective digitizer. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.

Note 3 Sending Text With Emoticons

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is on the AT&T platform. I have no problem sending just plain text messages.  However I decided to get creative by attaching emoticons  to my text message, accessing them by holding down the speaker button.  I chose one of the emoticons.  Upon hitting “send”, I received this warning message:  “Message may be corrupted on recipient device.  Change input mode to automatic.” I could not find any information on “change input mode to automatic.”  I decided to send the message.  My display showed the text message and emoticon image as being sent.  I decided to verbally call the intended recipient and verify whether both the text and emoticon came through.  She said my message came through but without any emoticons. I repeated this process with 4 other intended recipients but none received the emoticons. What is, or is not, happening here?  How do I fix this?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Solution: When trying to send an emoticon through SMS the recipient may not be able to view it correctly if the input method of your phone is not set properly. To change the input mode to automatic open the messaging app of your phone. From there click on settings then click on text message sms settings. Click on input mode then make sure that the green dot is on automatic.

Note 3 Camera Voice Not Working If Ok Google Is Active

Problem: I have a note 3 on at&t. My camera voice function will not work as long as ok goggle is active. Turn off goggle and it works perfectly. I am tired of toggling between the two. What should I do?

Solution: This appears to be a bug in the software. Try to check if there are any software or app updates available and install them. If your phone software and apps are updated then you may have to wait for future updates for this to be resolved.

In the meantime you can also try wiping the cache partition of your phone to see if the problem gets fixed.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 Front Camera Server Error

Problem: I have an issue with my rooted phone and was hoping you can help! So I have a rooted Note 3 for Verizon. And just a couple days ago, the front facing camera just stop working. It gives me an error message, server error occurred. Restart camera. I closed the app completely.  Restarted my phone a bunch of times. Cleared the cache on the camera app. Also cleared the cache partition in the recovery mode. I also deleted all social media app and reinstalled them and the front facing camera still didn’t work. The back camera does work, but not the front. I am not sure what else to.. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas… Look forward to hearing from you soon! Thanks so much

Solution: Your last option is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before doing this.

If the problem persists then this may already be hardware related. Bring you phone to an authorized service center for repair.

Note 3 Only Stylus Working After Phone Dropped

Problem: Dear TDG, i recently dropped my phone screen faced down, and now my screen is unresponsive but i could still use my stylus to interact with my phone….. can you please assist me with what are the problems my phone is having? Thanks.

Solution: If the problem occurred right after dropping your phone then the digitizer may have been damaged. Try to restart your phone. If the problem persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center for repair.

Note 3 Can’t Go Online/Missing Files After Upgrade

Problem: So I have never seen anything like this before, please help! (Note 3, AT AND T). I’m at the store today and all of a sudden by phone just turns off. (It was at 7% when it just went off out of nowhere). I go home and plug it in the wall and I get the green charging symbol. I just back later and it says your phone is upgrading. So I assume a system update is going on. When I take it off the charger, that is where the chaos begins. I can only text and make/receive calls. The phone shows 4G at the top, with full signal bars but cannot go online. None of my apps work and when I try to take a picture and then click the gallery, I get a no images/videos available message. Here is a crazy part: When I restart the phone, on the loading screen appears, a small picture of an unlocked lock appears with the word CUSTOM underneath. I have NEVER rooted my phone, so I have no idea why this would suddenly appear after this mystery turn off/upgrade. I have also not recently installed any crazy third party apps. Now here is even a crazier part and why I am stuck in limbo on what to do. When I go to MY FILES to try to see my old pics/vids/files, it says DEVICE STORAGE AVAILABLE- 5 gigs out of 32 gigs. That is what it said before this mystery reboot/update, so obviously it still has all of my files and videos stored somewhere! When I click on files and videos, everything is empty though! Even stranger when I connect to my PC in an attempt to backup these files and videos-same thing it shows the PHONE ICON and the blue bar almost full. As the PC even shows that all my files are still on the phone. But when I click the phone in my PC it takes me to an empty page with no items! I called Samsung and AT AND T and they had no idea what to do except suggest a full reset. The problem is I have important files and pics/vids that I need to backup before I do and obviously they are still on the phone. Can you please help?? Thanks!

Solution: Several owners of this phone have been reporting this issue happening on their device despite the fact that they did not root or change its software. Sometimes taking out the battery will resolve this problem.

  • With the phone still turned on take out the battery
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 3 minutes
  • Reinsert the battery
  • Turn on your phone.

In most cases your phone should boot normally and the unlocked padlock with custom written underneath will be gone.

If you still can’t access your files try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 SNS Error When Accessing Gallery

Problem: Hi, I am experiencing problem whenever I access my Gallery; i.e. a message “Unfortunately, SNS has stopped.” How can I fix that?

Solution: SNS or Social Network Services is responsible for syncing your accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. If a particular app fails to sync you will get this error message. In your case, the error occurs whenever you access your phone Gallery. You should then try clearing the cache and data of the gallery app.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • From the General tab, tap Application manager.
  • Swipe left to the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the Gallery application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.
  • The application cache and data is now cleared.

If the issue persists then try clearing the cache and data of your social apps as well.
