The OnePlus One is expected to get the Android 5.0 update through CyanogenMod 12S. But in India, where CyanogenMod updates are blocked on the device, the company’s upcoming Oxygen OS ROM is the only way to get Android 5.0 on the OnePlus One.
The company has already missed a couple of release deadlines in the past for this ROM and has now announced that it won’t be able to issue the ROM by the end of March as initially promised. After giving the bad news, OnePlus took the time to apologize to the fans who have been waiting for the update from quite some time now.
“It was our sincere hope to release the result of our hard work to all of you today,” Helen, Head of Mobile Product at OnePlus, said earlier today. “Unfortunately, we were unable to meet this date and we are as disappointed as you are. On behalf of myself and my team, I would like to apologize for this wait.”
According to OnePlus, the delay in bringing the ROM is related to certification which is pending from Google. So the matter appears to be out of Google’s hands.
This won’t be a conventional update though as users are expected to make a clean install of this ROM, replacing CyanogenMod in the process.
