The Nokia 1100 is one of the company’s most popular handsets and is universally acclaimed for having one of the best physical keypads at the time. It seems like the Finnish manufacturer will look to leverage the brand again by launching a new handset called the 1100. However, the smartphone will be running Android 5.0 out of the box with a large touchscreen display, so it’s unlikely that Nokia will replicate the original 1100 in form.
The revelation was made by a benchmark listing at Geekbench, which also revealed the smartphone to be running on a 1.3 GHz quad core processor based on the MediaTek MT6582 SoC. The smartphone was uploaded in the benchmark listing not too long ago, so this is certainly a new device.
Since we don’t have confirmation from the manufacturer as of yet, it’s hard to tell if the smartphone will see the light of the day. However, it is possible that the company will unveil this handset in partnership with a Chinese manufacturer, much like it did with the Nokia N1 tablet.
