The LG Watch Urbane smartwatch is expected be available in the American markets very soon. And now, the smartwatch has just gone on sale in the company’s home region of South Korea, giving us a very good idea about its pricing.
It seems like the smartwatch won’t go easy on the customers’ wallets as it has been priced at 650,000 Korean Won, which is about $588. The smartwatch comes with its very own SIM card and is capable of making phone calls as well, so the pricing seems justified to some extent, especially when we consider how the Apple Watch is priced.
Although the smartwatch is believed to be running Android Wear, demo units have shown them to be featuring a custom version of LG’s webOS platform, which allows for deeper software customization that Android Wear doesn’t permit. The Watch Urbane comes with a 1.3 inch circular OLED display, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC and a relatively big 700 mAh battery, which makes given that it’s supposed to access cellular networks.
LG is yet to announce the American pricing of the Watch Urbane, but we expect it to be around the $400-450 range when made available. Are you willing to pay such a steep price for the Watch Urbane? Let us know.
