The Google Nexus 5 was tough to come by as soon as the Nexus 6 was announced. Google took the white and red versions of the handset out of rotation, but kept the black model intact for sometime.
But today, the company has officially removed the black version of the Nexus 5 as well, indicating that we might have seen the last of the smartphone on the Play Store. This doesn’t mean that we won’t ever see the Nexus 5 being sold again though, as third party retailers are obviously going to continue selling the product.
Along with the 2013 Nexus flagship, Google has also removed the Chromebook Pixel from the Play Store, which is a premium grade Chromebook from the company. Given the high price tag, it didn’t manage to take a significant chunk out of the notebook segment the way Google had hoped. So its exit hasn’t really surprised us.
While the removal of the Chromebook Pixel hasn’t really come as a shock, we’re a little disappointed to see the Nexus 5 going out of the Play Store. What do you think?
