Chinese manufacturers have taken the slimmest smartphone race a little too seriously as we’ve seen in the past. One of the prominent among these companies is Gionee, which has yet again upped the ante with its new Elife S7 smartphone. Heir to the thinnest smartphone crown, the Elife S7 has a body which is just 5.5 mm. This is remarkable for a smartphone with a high end hardware.
Inside, the smartphone has a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, an 8-megapixel front camera, an octa core MediaTek MT6752 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 2,750 mAh battery. Despite the thickness of the device and the size of the camera used here, we don’t see the sensor protruding here, which is a commendable feat by the company.
The Elife S7 will be available in Los Angeles Black, North Pole White and Maldives Blue color variants with Macau and India being the initial launch markets (starting March 18). The rest of the globe should get the device subsequently. Pricing for the smartphone has been set at $400, which is quite impressive for a device of this caliber.
