ASUS has managed to impress one and all with its recently launched ZenFone 2 and ZenFone Zoom smartphones. A new rumor is now suggesting that the company will implement a fingerprint scanner in the ZenFone 3 which is expected to break cover in September this year, exactly an year after the ZenFone 2 was revealed.
We’re hoping that ASUS will implement decent fingerprint scanners as what we’ve seen from Android OEMs (including Samsung), haven’t been all that impressive.
The revelation was made by the head of ASUS, Johnny Shih, so it’s coming from a legitimate source. But with that being said, the launch is still some distance away, so we’re taking this report with a pinch of salt for now.
Using a touch fingerprint sensor will be a refreshing change of pace from the usual swipe style sensors that are used by Android OEMs. It is said that Google was taking fingerprint scanning seriously and even wanted to implement it with the Nexus 6, but backed out at the last minute.
