We reported about the 2014 Moto X getting the Android 5.1 soak test update earlier today. It seems like Motorola has added more features than initially thought. A new revelation tells us that the update carries a new gesture feature to turn on the flashlight on the phone.
This is a simple chop gesture and once turned on from the settings, all you need to do is perform the gesture (shown above) and the flashlight turns on. To turn it off, the user has to repeat the same gesture. The feature has been added to Moto Actions, so it is possible that all Android 5.1 updates for Motorola handsets will get this feature.
The Android 5.1 update is currently being sent as part of a soak test to the 2014 Moto X, so it might still take some time to hit all devices. But it’s good to know that a feature like this has been built into Motorola’s ROM although it isn’t present on stock Android.
