The Huawei Watch was announced roughly a week ago before the official start of the MWC 2015 event. Rumors had suggested that the wearable would be priced high, contrary to the company’s policy of offering high end products at low cost.
It now seems like those reports were accurate all along as a premature listing on Amazon has revealed the actual pricing of the smartwatch, and we’re not very impressed. While it could well be wrong, Amazon’s listing suggests that the smartwatch will cost close to $1000 at the time of launch, indicating that it won’t go easy on the consumers’ wallets.
The listing was up on Amazon’s German counterpart, where the Silver variant of the Huawei Watch was priced at €999 ($1084). It is likely that this was wrongly listed, although it’s still available on the site. There’s still some time before the smartwatch is officially available for purchase, so we might have to reserve judgment until then. We expect the basic version of the Huawei Watch to cost somewhere close to $250-300, which is in line with the likes of the LG G Watch R and the Moto 360. What do you think?
