While Apple makes more than Google does for app revenue, it seems Google is trying to make the Play Store better for developers. Now, just like on regular Google searches, there will be ads on the Play Store.
As you can see, Google is clearly marking which apps when you search are being promoted, with the little Orange “Ad” icon. So far Google is only partnering with a limited number of ad companies to send the ads to a limited number of users. But soon it will probably roll out to everyone.
Along with announcing the ads, Google also announced that they paid developers a combined total of $7 billion in 2014. That’s less than Apple’s $10 billion, but that is still very good for the platform.
