Samsung has already begun the Android 5.0 update rollout for the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3 as well as the Galaxy Note Edge. And now, the company has revealed that the Galaxy S5 Mini will receive the update in the second quarter of the year. The handset was launched less than a year ago as a smaller (and severely underpowered) version of the bigger flagship.
The revelation was made by Samsung France, which means it’s coming directly from a company source. So if you own a Galaxy S5 Mini, the update should arrive sometime by June. We’re assuming these dates apply for the unlocked models and carrier variants should take even longer to get the update. That’s pretty disappointing as Android 5.1 is expected to be mainstream by then.
It’s quite obvious that Samsung is prioritizing newer and high end flagships for the Android 5.0 update rollout, which is a common practice in the Android mobile segment. Do you own a Galaxy S5 Mini? What do you make of this news?
