Note 3 Can’t Connect To Mobile data After 4.4.4

Problem: I have a galaxy note 3, my provider is straight talk. Recently my phone made me do a software update to the android 4.4.4. Since then my internet will not work unless I’m on wifi and I can not send of rec. mult-media messages. my data is turned on, I’ve power cycled and pulled the battery. Can u pls help??

Solution: The APN settings of your phone may have changed when the update was successfully applied. Follow the steps below to check on this.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Connections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names

If you find the Straight Talk APN and click on it. You will need to compare the settings on your phone to that used by Straight Talk. You can get the correct settings from their website.

If the settings match but you still don’t have mobile data then contact your network regarding this as this may be an account related issue.

Note 3 Blocked From Accessing Webpages

Problem: Hello, I have a Samsung note 3 and every time I try to access the internet, I get a blocker. This is for every page I try to access. Can this be fixed? Thanks.

Solution: Your phone may have a security software installed that is preventing you form accessing websites or it could also be that the Wi-Fi connection you are using has been set to block websites.

Try connecting to the web using your mobile data or through another Wi-Fi connection. If you can connect then your present Wi-Fi connection is the problem.

If however you are still having the same issue even if connected to a different Internet connection then there may be an app that is blocking your access.

To check if this is an app related issue start your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  • When the Samsung logo displays press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  • When the Lock screen is displayed Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode then it’s probably caused by a third party app. Find out what that app is and uninstall it. Start with any security app that you may have installed since this is the most likely suspect.

Note 3 Screen Damage

Problem: Hi, My galaxy note 3 was spilled with milk, it can switch on but the screen is blank. The problem is, it has a pin number and i can’t put on my pin no because the screen is blank now i want the back up. Is it possible?

Solution: Unless you have the screen fixed first there is no easy way to back up the data on your phone since you will need to unlock it with the security PIN.

You can try connecting it to a computer with the Kies software running and see if you can perform a backup from there.

Note 3 Update Install Corrupted

Problem: Hi there. I’m hoping you can help me cuz I have almost given up researching trying to find a solution to my problem. Ok so I have an At&t Note 3 that i use with Straight Talk service. For about a week or longer it has given me the option to install an update. Currently I have OS 4.4.2 and I know 4.4.4 is out. But when I go to install the update, it completes the install and once my phone restarts, it pops up a page that says “Install interrupted. The software update could not be installed” I’ve tried updating about 5 or 6 times now, and I’m sure you know it’s a LARGE update, so it’s taken a lot of time trying to update. I’m so very frustrated. Please help.

Solution: Here’s what you need to do. Back up your phone data then perform a factory reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device

Once your phone turns on download the update again and then install it.

Note 3 Data Connectivity Not Working

Problem: I read your blog on the note 3, I’ve got major issues with mine and it began yesterday.  All my data does not work, group messages, apps, google play, nothing not even my pictures.   My Wi-Fi does not even allow me to surf the web, very strange.  I can receive/make calls and text (no mms) but that’s about it. I’ve rebooted and found an unlocked pad lock with “custom” underneath it while it is powering on. AT&T tech states my phone seemed to have rooted itself.  On device status it shows “custom” as opposed to “official” the tech tells me, I don’t know even know how to root the phone.   Any idea?  Currently I really wish I never made the switch to android. Thanks for any input!!!!

Solution: There are many cases where owners of this phone buy it brand new but then it really is a reconditioned phone. The previous owner of this phone may have rooted it and installed a custom software.

Regarding your issue of not being able to go online through a mobile data connection or Wi-Fi you should first check if your phone has any security software running that may be blocking its ability to access data. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode first.

If you can go online when in Safe Mode then a third party app may be causing the issue. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.

If the problem persists then I suggest doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before performing this procedure.

Note 3 No 4G Access After 4.4.4 Update

Problem: Hello. It looks like 4.4.4 successfully updated on my Galaxy Note 3, but since the update I cannot access the 4G network—4G does not appear on my home screen anymore–  and I cannot access internet via mobile networks.   I get a DNS lookup error when I try to type in a web page address.  I cannot send images via text.  The camera also got buggy.  Sometimes I get an error saying my SIM card cannot be read. A factory reset did not help.  It did not uninstall 4.4.4 but it did wipe all my apps. Any ideas?  Have already been on tech support with AT&T and Samsung. AT&T says the phone needs replacement.  It is only a little more than a year old.  Cell phone still works.  Internet access works via Wi-Fi. Thanks for your help.

Solution: The update may have changed the APN settings causing this no access to 4G issue. Check on this first by following the steps listed below.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Connections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names

If you notice any AT&T APN then click on it and compare its settings with that used by your network. You can get the correct settings from the AT&T website. If you don’t see any AT&T APN or if the settings are wrong then make the necessary corrections.

For the other issue with the SIM card you should try inserting your SIM in another phone. If the issue still occurs then the SIM may be the problem. If it doesn’t then the SIM tray holder of your phone may have an issue. Try checking if it has any dirt on it and clean it out. Insert your SIM and see if it is secured in the SIM tray. If it moves around then this may be the cause of the SIM error. You may need to have the SIM tray of your phone replaced.

As for the camera issue of your phone you should try clearing the cache and data of the camera app.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the General tab.
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Go to the All tab
  • Tap the Camera application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

Note 3 Hotspot Password

Problem: Hello droid guy, I am having some problem for my wifi hotspot. I have galaxy note 3 and was trying to activate my wifi hotspot and try connect my laptop with it to get internet connection through its mobile data. But my laptop was asking for a security key/password so as to establish connection. But it was the first time that i was trying this. I never even touched it before. So why is it asking for password and how do i know what the password is? Kindly clear this problem for me.

Solution: Your phone may have a password set for the hotspot. You can change this password.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the Connections tab, tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  • Tap Mobile HotSpot.
  • Tap Configure.

Go to the password field and enter your desired password. Make sure to save the settings before you exit.

On your laptop connect to the hotspot and if it asks for the password just type the password you have set.

Note 3 Contacts Freezing

Problem: Hi, I was googling for help and came across your email. I’ll press my Contacts and I’m trying to scroll through my contacts and then it freezes. I exit and go back and it’s still frozen. I’ll shut it off and turn it on and do it again. Freezes every time. What can I do? Hope to hear from you. Thanks!

Solution: This may just be an app related issue. The contacts app may be holding some corrupt data. To fix this try clearing the cache of the contacts app.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the General tab.
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Go to the All tab
  • Tap the Contacts application
  • Tap Clear cache.

If the issue persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note III’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 Glitches

Problem: Hi, tDG. Great to find you!  Ive had a samsung note 3 for about a year now, and theres three odd things that are annoying.  First, is the text issue.  For some reason, after i text someone, their text reply often comes in above my text question or prompt.  Its a time issue, mostly…if they answer quickly, the text editor put their response above my question.  Makes it hard to read back or follow directions or instructions.  If enough time elapses, a few mins, say, then it will comes in below my text properly. Also, the texting worked fine at first, and only started after about six months. Secondly, the wireless search doesnt seem to save my home router password, or other passwords, for optimum, for ex.  This is really annoying, to have to sign on several times or more a day to my home network.  And to have to sign on manually everytime i come home.  My old iPhones, and ipad saved them automatically, even if its a year since i last used a network ive connected with in the past. Whats the deal?  Can’t find a way to save it on the phone settings anywhere that solves the problem. Finally, the third thing is, i have an AOL email account ( ok, yes its ancient, but it’s still useful bc ive had it so long) and, after a few months of working properly, the software would not load my new aol mail anymore.  The AT&T store guy i bought it from said A) delete the account and re-add it, which didnt work…and then 2) said call samsung.  Great. Thanks for the help, AT&T guy. Maybe you know what to do. Next phone will be an iPhone if this isnt going to work properly.

Solution: For your first issue regarding the text messages not displaying in order try going to your phone Settings then click on Date and Time. Make sure there is a check mark on Automatic Date & Time as well as on Automatic Time Zone. This solves most of the issues involving text messages that arrive out of order.

Regarding the issue of your phone not remembering the Wi-Fi password it seems like this is a software related issue. Try checking for any software updates and install them in your phone. If I remember correctly there was a previous software update that had this bug but Samsung already fixed this by releasing another update.

If the issue persists then back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

The factory reset may also resolve the AOL email issue since your phone will be refreshed. Configure your email client with your AOL account and check if the email issue still occurs.

Note 3 No Network Connection

Problem: My samsung galaxy note 3 is currently having an issue with not being able to send SMS, MMS, or make calls.  I can get service back by turning the phone on and off, but it goes back and forth better having service and a symbol like a circle with a line through it.  ATT has already tried to re-register the phone to the network with no luck….  I constantly have to cycle the phone power to get service back.  The phone did not get wet and it was not damaged. Any thoughts?

Solution: Try using another SIM in your phone and see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then have your SIM replaced. If the issue still occurs then back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

If the factory reset fail to resolve the issue then this may already be a hardware related issue. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for further checking.

Note 3 Software Modified After Screen Replacement

Problem: i have a Galaxy Note 3 that was purchased about a year ago and was rooted by a friend of mine (don’t remember the root name) anyways the phone has been great working without any problems i cracked the screen about 6m ago and still no problems the other day i left it at the local MALL cellairis repair shop so they can fix my screen…..    before anything my phone was locked with pattern password and i ask if they gonna need it. THEY said no we don’t need it and they also said they wont be touching the software they ended up replacing the screen with the LCD because they broke it and colors are not exact match as OEM samsung ! NOW today i got my phone back there was NO PASSWORD NO ROOT ! its somehow back to AT&T loading screen and behind the ATT loading I can see something like web-browser with facebook!!! its like the background has open page of facebook and i cant really make a picture to show it to you I asked the guy there but all i got out of his wicked bad English was that he didn’t do anything. BUT i am afraid that my personal information has been compromised and maybe some banking info as well.

Solution: Either your phone had undergone a factory reset or its software was modified. If you suspect that your information has been compromised you should immediately change the passwords of the sites you visit. If you do banking transactions on your phone I suggest you monitor your bank accounts for any suspicious activity.

On the other side of things though, if your phone has a security pattern password activated, your data remains safe as long as this isn’t cracked. The fact that the software of your phone has changed means that a factory reset may have occurred. It’s very likely that your data may have not been accessed since it will be deleted when the factory reset was performed.
