Google is apparently testing out a live chat feature on search results which will help businesses connect with the customers in an improved manner. The chat will be based on Hangouts, which makes it quite an interesting prospect.
Once the chat is initiated by the customers, businesses will revert back to them between a predefine amount of time. This is controlled by the businesses, so they can take as much time as they want to revert back to user queries. They will need to mention the approximate wait time in the chat window (1 hours, 1 day etc).
It is believed that only a handful of businesses are currently testing this feature with Google yet to make it mainstream. But once the testing is completed, expect the feature to be available to a large number of businesses worldwide. This is very beneficial for the customers who currently rely on services like Hangouts to keep in touch with their friends and loved ones. Once prompted, the live chat is initiated in a new pop up browser window.
What do you think of this new feature by Google?
