Google Maps on Android has finally received a new update which lets you share navigation details with friends or family, which is a very nifty addition to the application. The feature makes its way to Android devices with the version 9.3 update, so keep an eye out for an update notification. The feature is very simple to access and users can send directions in text form (probably via email) which will contain a link to open on a web browser.
Apart from this neat feature, Maps for Android also enables the ability to permanently ignore GPS settings messages that pop up every time you open the application. By simply checking the Don’t ask me again option on the warning, you can get rid of it forever. The app is also asking for some new permissions to access Bluetooth devices, but apart from that there are no other additions made to Maps on Android.
Thanks to the new sharing feature, you can easily tell people about a new place without having to personally give them the directions. The update is rolling out gradually, but you can get access to the feature right away by downloading the apk below. It is officially signed by Google and will install over the existing version, just like an update, so you can download it with confidence.
